1st Day Of School (1st Semester Vs. 2nd Semester)

The first day of school can be an exciting day in the school year. The difference between the first day of school first semester and the first day of school second semester is quite big. See for yourself.

First day of school, first semester

You leave your room 30 minutes before class because you don’t want to be late. It’s the first day of school! You feel like you have to impress the professor, so you show up 30 minutes before class and realize that there are more than 100 people in the room, so good luck impressing the professor.

You bring every single “recommended” book that was “required” for your class. You keep thinking that maybe we will use this book today in class; you don’t want to be marked off points for not bringing the book. Better safe than sorry.

You wake up two hours before school starts to do your makeup and hair. Dress to impress, what if there is a handsome guy in your class? Can’t risk not looking your finest at 7 in the morning.

Sitting at the front of the room to pay attention. You get so excited for the first day of school that you decide that you want to sit in the front. You are making your mom so proud by being so studious.

You take notes on every single thing that is on the slide show. Every single concept seems so important. You feel like everything that is said in class is going to be on your next exam.

4.0 GPA, here I come. This semester you are dedicated to getting a 4.0. Study. Study. Study. The motivation is unreal, and that adrenaline of getting good grades is in your blood. You will not settle for a B in accounting.

First day of school, secondsemester

Leaving your room 10 minutes before class starts because you just DGAF. It’s 9 already? Oh well, my class doesn’t start until 9:10, and the professor doesn’t take attendance on the first day. might as well not go.

“Oh sh**, I forgot to buy books." Totally forgot to order books online for this semester. Let’s hope that the line at the bookstore after class isn’t going to be long. Maybe if I get lucky, I can go the semester without buying books at all.

#graysuits. Hair and makeup and cute clothes, nope. Dressing up is such a struggle. Sweatpants and a sweatshirt is just fine. Who am I trying to impress, anyway?

“Totally should have gone to class earlier just so you could get a prime spot in the back row." The back row is filled up, dang. The back row is the perfect getaway for some online shopping and doing the homework that is due in 30 minutes.

Taking notes? Nope. I didn’t even bring my notebook. The PowerPoint will probably be posted online later, so I’ll just wait. But let’s be honest, you never really end up going online to check the PowerPoint until it is the day before your midterm.

“What’s the GPA cutoff for social probation?” A 4.0 is definitely out of reach so the motivation is gone, the dedication is gone, the studying is gone. Bye bye, 4.0. You are just trying to get a good enough GPA to not be on social probation.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
