If you are notoriously late to everything but don't know why, you're not alone. Many people suffer from acute lateness. It can't be cured, or treated, because it's in your DNA. You'll probably even be late to your own wedding, and you are never on time for class. No matter what you do, you will be late 85 percent of the time. The other 15 percent of the time accounts for when you are on time because either a family member or a friend is hurrying you along and/or driving you to where you need to go. The only thing you can do is accept it and move on, because you'll be much happier that way. Here are 19 things that people who suffer from acute lateness understand:
1. You always think you are OK on time even when you aren't.
2. When you realize that you aren't going to be on time, you instantly panic...
3. ...because you, ironically, hate keeping people waiting.
4. So you start moving as fast as you can in order to be less late than if you were to continue at the same pace:
5. When you are late to class, you usually get this look from your teacher:
6. And then you have to make up some lame excuse as to why you are late:
7. You feel horrible about being late all of the time because punctual people view lateness as disrespectful and rude:
8. ...but it's just who you are. Punctual people don't understand that.
9. This is you when you are going to be on time but then realize that you forgot something important and have to drive all the way back home to get what you forgot (and now you're late):
10. You end up stretching the truth so you don't get yelled at for being late until you get to where you are going.
11. Sometimes you just don't care if you are going to be late because there comes a point when it's expected of you.
12. Sometimes, if you are going to be late, you just decide not to go at all.
13. At some point, your friends and family create a new time zone just for you, so they secretly start telling you that you need to be somewhere thirty minutes before you actually need to be there.
14. The snooze button is your arch rival.
15. You deal with situations like this on a daily basis:
16. So true:
17. There are many times when you thought you were going to be on time, but then you got stuck in traffic.
18. ...and then when you finally get to where you are going, in addition to being late, you are ticked off because you know you could have been early.
19. But when you actually arrive on time (for once), you are very proud of yourself because it's the greatest feeling in the world.
