19 Things to Kick Off Your Summer Bucket List

Are you itching for an escape from your boring summer schedule? Or are you too busy to leave your hometown, but need to have a little fun? This bucket list will help you get off of the couch and start making memories. Trust me, you'll thank me when you're telling all your college friends what you did this summer.

1. Take a hike.

Whether you want to climb every mountain or take a walk at the park, go spend some time enjoying the nature around you. You never know what you'll find!

2. Go midnight bowling.

Is regular bowling too mainstream? Many bowling alleys offer midnight bowling, and it looks as cool as it sounds!

3. See a concert.

This one is a given. Whether you're going to see Beyoncé or your favorite artist that no one has ever heard of, there's nothing like some good tunes with friends to make your summer amazing.

4. Go to a major/minor league baseball game.

For baseball fans, this is a given. For those not crazy about baseball, the atmosphere is still fun! And attending minor league games can be just as fun as attending a major league game (and the tickets are usually cheaper).

5. Go to every local restaurant in your town.

You know you've been wanting to check out that local joint for years. Nothing is stopping you now!

6. Go camping.

Whether you're a rough and rugged camper or a "glamper," nothing beats sleeping underneath the starry night sky.

7. Attend a county fair

Going to the county fair for the first time is like a rite of passage. There's just so much to do, see, and eat! Plus, many county fairs have concerts at night.

8. Go volunteer at your local animal shelter.

Because who doesn't love helping out our furry friends? The animal shelter will definitely appreciate it and so will the animals. Who knows, maybe you'll help someone find their forever home!

9. Have a girl's/guy's night out.

Sometimes you just need a night out. Take some of your friends and hit up the town. Or you can have a "girl's night" at your house. It doesn't necessarily need to be a big event.

10. Try one of those Buzzfeed recipes you always tag your friends in.

Feeling adventurous? Try the most delicious looking Buzzfeed Food video and try it out with all your friends afterwards. It could either be the tastiest thing you've made or the worst. You'll never know unless you try!

11. Visit historic parts of your state.

Historic areas are some of the most beautiful parts of our country. Plus, you can learn history without having to be tested on it.

12. Ride on a bike trail.

Want to exercise but don't feel like committing to the gym? Take up biking! Biking is great exercise, plus bike trails can be very scenic.

13. Tie-dye an item of clothing.

Do you have any old clothes that need to get spiced up? Get some tie-dye and make it new again! Tie-dye is always in style.

14. Have a spa day.

If you go out to a salon or stay at home, you deserve some pampering. Invite your friends, too!

15. Spend the weekend at your grandparent's house.

Grandparents are awesome. They shower you with unconditional love, and all you have to do to cheer them up is to give them a call. Imagine how happy they'll be when you spend a fun weekend with them!

16. Go to a drive-in movie theater.

This is most likely on everyone's summer bucket list, but that doesn't mean it can't be on this list! Although there are not as many of these as there used to be, it's definitely a different experience than your normal movie theater!

17. Visit another state or city for a day.

Got a free day? Visit another state! My fiancé and I are from Ohio and we visited Tennessee for a day. It was a long day, but I enjoyed going somewhere where no one knows who you are!

18. Spend the day around a body of water.

Lake, ocean, quarry...whatever you're closest to, don't be afraid to test out the waters for some fun in the sun.

19. Apply to write for The Odyssey Online.

Writing articles is so much fun! Not only does it look great on resumes, but it is a great community that offers leadership roles every year. See if your college has an Odyssey writing group today!

So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
