19 Things I Have Learned In 19 Years

With my birthday being this weekend and turning 20 I truly felt extremely reflective on my life. I feel like I have grown as a person so much but especially in this past year I have learned more about myself, the people who matter and life in general than I think I realized. Here is 19 things Ive learned in 19 years

1.Family is forever

2.Loving yourself is always the most important because YOU are the only person that will forever stay.

3. Find three things positive in a day and write them down so when you feel the world crashing you have a bunch of things to remind you life is good.

4.Be the change you want to see in the world. Smile at strangers and hold the door open for the woman who looks mean. Sometimes all they need is to be reminded there are good people in the world.

5.Treat all jobs with respect because even though to you they may only look like a McDonalds worker, but who would do it if they didn't? Job shaming is just so stupid to me.

6. Wait the 24 before flipping out over something you think happened... words are something you cant take back, so make sure to use them wisely

7. Real friends are the ones who love you even when you may not love yourself

8. No guy should complete you. You complete you, but having someone support you and vice versa is a great relationship, but your partner shouldn't define you.

9. Life is to short to hold grudges, say what you have to say and move on.

10. If you care what everyone else thinks, you will never truly be happy.

11. Be passionate about everything you do and don't care what others may say.

12. If you have a dream, the only person that can make it happen is you.

13.Always be kind, it will come back to you one day; believe it or not.

14. The only thing to actually spend good money on is skin care, because your face will never go out of style.

15. Never spend time with people who don't encourage your dreams or bring out the best in you.

16. Don't lie, even about the small stuff because that is the stuff people will remember.

17. Never forget to say thank you, even for the small stuff.

18. Laugh even when it is hard because being angry doesn't help anyone or the situation

19. Never be afraid to be yourself, its easier in the long run, I promise.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. So, if you are aware that you’re a Starbucks addict as well, or maybe you need to check to see if you’re an addict, here are seven ways to tell.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective. The following aren’t foolproof tips and may not apply to you, but I was able to find success with them (hope you do too!)
