Summer is officially over! While the favorite for many is over, and many are back at school or work, my favorite months are just around the corner. For me, September until January are by far my favorite months. It's only by the change in temperature (I live in Miami if I'm lucky it can go all the way down to 60 degrees), but these months are full of holidays and festivities.
1. Labor Day Weekend
The last weekend that is socially acceptable to behave as if you were still in summer even if you are already at school or work.
2. Football season is back!
If you like college or professional football you know the action starts right after Labor Day weekend. Finally I get to watch football almost every day of the week for at least 15 weeks!
3. Tailgate
Football and tailgate go like peanut butter and jelly. You can't have one without the other one, and don't worry if sometimes is okay to like tailgating a little bit more than the game.
4. Pumpkin Spice Late
Don't be shy and accept that PSL is probably one of the best thing in the Starbucks Menu.
5. Pumpkins and Pumpkins everywhere
Once October, rolls around, there are pumpkins everywhere. There is a high percentage that you will either go to a pumpkin patch, or crave a pumpkin, and if you are crazy like me, you do all of the above and work or volunteer at a pumpkin patch.
6. Pumpkin Food and Pecan Pie
I don't have words. The food is amazing.
7. Halloween Horror Nights
If you live in Florida or California, you probably have gone to this. Universal Studios comes alive with hordes of horrifying mutants, monsters and maniacs. Explore haunted houses, brave multiple creature-filled scare zones, enjoy outrageous live shows and experience many of the park’s most exciting rides and attractions. If you haven't gone, definitely give it a try this year.
8. Halloween
For those who loved to wear costumes this is your time. For those who don't, go out and enjoy the creativity of some and the fail-costumes of others. This year expect a lot of Harley Quinns.
9. Bonfires
Nothing beats at night with some friends or family and some s'mores. Perfection!
10. Macy's Thanksgiving Parade
It's a family tradition to spent that morning in bed and watch the parade.
11. Thanksgiving
Probably my favorite holiday. I the food is amazing and having the opportunity to spend time with family is a plus. Sometimes things could get a little bit awkward, but try to remember what this holiday is all about.
12. Black Friday / Cyber Monday
As a former retail worker, I'm not a big fan of Black Friday, yet as a college student I love discounts.13. Peppermint Chocolate
I'm a huge chocolate lover, and this kind of chocolate is definitely my favorite. I just wish it was around longer.14. Setting up Christmas decorations and Christmas music
Being Latina means that by the time Thanksgiving rolls around I already have my Christmas Tree up and my house is almost ready with all the decoration. Yet as soon as the Friday after Thanksgiving comes, you are going to see me jamming to Christmas music in my car.15. Buñelos
The best thing ever on earth.
16. Christmas' Eve and Christmas Day
It doesn't matter day what day you celebrate as long as you are close to special ones, open some gifts and have a good time.
17. NEW YEARS
The end and the beginning. You can look back at the the amazing year you had, or you can start fresh as soon as the ball drops at Time Square. It's up to you how you want to make this year. Also, I love those seconds when everyone is screaming, "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, HAPPY NEW YEAR"
18. IT IS MY BIRTHDAY
While this is personal, my birthday is on January 30th, and I'm still on those years that I'm excited for my birthday! #teamaquarius.
19. Super Bowl
Technically, it's on February, but I like the Super Bowl. It is an extension of my birthday because it is normally a weekend after my birthday. With an amazing game and half-time show, I conclude my favorite months of the year and start the countdown for college football in September.
