College is an exciting time when we are preparing ourselves to be successful in our careers and beyond. Finally being able to work towards our dreams is thrilling, especially knowing how close we're getting. But it can be a stressful time, filled with worries and uncertainties about the future. Some of us don't actually know what we want to do with our degrees, and others don't know how to get started on our plans. Sometimes we need encouragement during this important part of our lives, and when we can't come up with uplifting thoughts of our own, it can help to read the wise words of others. I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
