I decided to make a list of 19 things I've learned over my 19 years of life. (I have a lot more, but it seemed cute to do 19 in 19.)
1. Cut toxic people out of your life the moment you realize they are harmful to your growth. You will find new people to fill the relationships you once had.
2. Wear whatever you want. Wear that romper that shows your butt. Wear those pants that sag so your dick shows. You are not too big, too small, too ugly, too cute to wear anything -- you are you!
3. It's OK to try and not succeed. But don't make that discourage you from trying again. Everybody fails, get back up and try again.
4. Spend time with your family. They are not too embarrassing or annoying to have a Sunday dinner with every once in awhile. They've always been there for you, it's your turn now.
5. The boy you think you can't live without -- you can and you will. It's only bad for a little while, you'll be okay.
6. When you laugh, laugh hard and laugh loud. Nothing feels better than a good laugh.
7. Be kind to others. It's never cool to be mean on purpose. Smile. Ask people how they are. Be nice.
8. Put your windows down, blast your radio and sing that song you love.
9. Work hard in school. Don't be ashamed if you don't get something. Speak up because I promise you that another person has the same question.
10. It's OK to not know what you want to do in life. You have plenty of time. Don't rush
11. When you think you have completely embarrassed yourself, laugh it off. Nobody can make fun of someone who laughs at themself.
12. Don't worry about your weight too much, your body will be constantly changing from the time you are born until the day you die. Do exercise and eat well though.
13. Wake up every morning with good cup of coffee. I've noticed the simple joys of caffeine make me happier.
14. If you think you have a problem with something or someone, then try to live without it or them for a year. Decide how you feel after that.
15. The party you missed last Saturday won't kill you. Stay in and watch a movie. Your body could use a rest anyway.
16. Save your money. One day it will come in handy. You don't need to eat out every day and saving $20 a week will add up.
17. I don't know everything and I never will. This took me the longest to learn and even longer to accept.
18. Stand up for what you think is right.
19. Probably the most important and outstanding thing I've learned is to be kind to yourself. None of the advice above work unless you are understanding, kind and respectful to yourself. Love yourself; it's more important than you think.
