18 TV Shows Older Than 18-Year-Olds

Who knew they were all older than we are?

As I started binge watching Sex and the City, one giant flaw stood out to me: these women's lives would be substantially easier if they had cell phones. It got me thinking how different of a time period it must've been to not be able to reach my three best friends at the drop of a text. It was only nineteen years ago when the show premiered, yet so much has changed.

Then, I came to the realization that the majority of my favorite shows were created before laptops were even relevant. With a quick Google search, I was shocked to discover how many of the most well-known TV shows are older than I am and have withheld the test of time (despite the generational gap).

1. Sex and the City (1998-2004)

2. Friends (1994-2004)

3. Full House (1987-1995)

4. Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (1999 - present)

5. That 70s Show (1998-2006)

6. Saved by the Bell (1989-1993)

7. Family Guy (1999 - present)

8. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (1990-1996)

9. South Park (1997 - present)

10. Boy Meets World (1993 - 2000)

11. The Simpsons (1989 - present)

12. Everybody Loves Raymond (1996 - 2005)

13. Spongebob Squarepants (1999 - present)

14. Sister, Sister (1994-1999)

15. Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996 - 2003)

16. Seinfeld (1989 - 1998)

17. The Sopranos (1999 - 2007)

18. The Amanda Show (1999 - 2002)
