Every time I start watching a new show, I immediately find myself falling in love with one character in particular and I begin to dream of life with him as my boyfriend. I know that is not uncommon, as I know many people like myself fall into the habit of fawning over a character and picturing an all too perfect reality with them. Even though they are fake that just makes it more fun. If you are a serial TV character dater like I am, you will probably agree with many of the strapping men on this list.

1. Derek, "Grey's Anatomy"

Derek was such an amazing man and I am still reeling from his untimely death. He was such a wonderful father and he was a compassionate husband who would do anything for Meredith. If any one character could be brought back to life, I would choose him.

2. Daryl, "The Walking Dead"

While I am still hoping that Daryl will finally get together with Carol, I would gladly fill her spot until then. Daryl would do anything for those close to him and those arms of his are everything.

3. Rodrigo, "Mozart In The Jungle"

He might be a bit unusual, but I imagine a relationship with the Maestro to be quite the extraordinary experience. He would always have an idea of something to do and there would certainly never be a dull moment. Not to mention, there would most likely be beautiful music playing somewhere.

4. Lip, "Shameless"

Not only does Lip have a brilliant mind, but he is also an incredible older brother. He loves his family and he is always looking out for those that he loves. What more could you ask for in a guy?

5. Jake, "Scandal"

As someone who was always team Jake over Fitz, I can say with certainty that Jake would make a much better boyfriend than Mr. President. He might be a little messed up and his methods are less than ethical, but if you need something done, he would have it done yesterday.

6. Uncle Jesse, "Full House"

Do I need to explain? Uncle Jesse was and continues to be a wonderful human being. There is nothing better than a man who can play the guitar and loves babies.

7. Mulder, "X-Files"

While he might be a little too obsessed with finding the truth, his drive and determination are beyond admirable. Mulder is also incredibly humorous, as well as intelligent, so clearly he would make a great partner as long as he stopped looking for his sister for one second.

8. Sam, "Supernatural"

After spending many a morning with my roommate watching "Supernatural" marathons, I became quite fond of the handsome gentleman. Some may prefer his brother, but there is just something about that hair that I adore.

9. Alcide, "True Blood"

I'm just going to leave this picture here and allow you to understand why he made it on here in the first place.

10. Andy, "Parks and Recreation"

Andy would probably be the most fun out of all of these men. He is always trying new things, and his boy-like charm and affection is both heart-warming and heart-melting. He would definitely make a great boyfriend because he knows how to make a girl feel like a princess.

11. Jon Snow, "Game of Thrones"

Who wouldn't want to date "The King of The North"?

12. Quinn, "Homeland"

Quinn might be a bit troubled, but he is a skilled professional at what he does best: killing people. OK, a bit terrifying, but he does all of it for the greater good, or at least we tell ourselves that. Regardless, I know that if I needed rescuing, Quinn would be there in a heartbeat.

13. Bobby, "Billions"

Honestly, who wouldn't want to date a billionaire? He might be slightly corrupt, but hey, he loves his kids and is a total family man. In my books that outmeasures all the less than legal things that he does while he is at work.

14. Tate, "American Horror Story"

Try to fight me on Tate and you will lose. Anyone who has seen "American Horror Story" will agree that Tate is the best part about season 1 and the most adored character out of any of the seasons. He is beyond lovable and he has a quirky yet endearing personality. Now if only he wasn't dead.

15. Jax, "Sons of Anarchy"

Jax is probably the most hardcore character on here. He is fearlessly loyal and dedicated to his family and the club. The level of devotion that Jax has to his loved ones is all that a girl could ask for in a man. Also, don't even get me started on his abs.

16. Ryan, "Castle"

Probably not as well known among this bunch, but equally as charming is Kevin Ryan. His bromance with Esposito is playful and entertaining to watch, yet his youthful smile and his exuberant personality make him a nice catch.

17. Chase, "House"

If you watched "House," you too probably fell in love with his Aussie accent the moment that you heard it. He may not always make the best choices, but that face will melt your heart no matter what law or rule is broken.

18. Mike, "The Following"

I'll be rounding off the list with a handsome gentleman from a show that stopped too soon. Mike may have gotten injured every two seconds, but it never stopped him from continuing his work and working hard out there in the field. A strong work-ethic is an attractive quality in a man.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
