18 Thoughts I Had When I Tried Tinder

Tinder isn't for everyone and that's OK.

Let's talk about the main way college/young adults now date. Tinder. Tinder is a "dating" app that everyone seems to have these days, and I figured that I should give it a chance. For a few days, at least. I have never used a dating app and am not one that likes to date. But I took the plunge, and I still don't know how I feel about this experience. But here are a few things I learned!

1. Watch out for people whose occupation is a DJ. Not to say that they aren't, but I don't think they should call themselves that.

2. Speaking of music, holding a guitar does NOT make you look cool. Can you even play it? We don't know.

3. What's up with all the douche guy poses?

4. Also, why do people use hand gestures? Do they think it makes them look sexy or something?

5. Having a dog in your picture makes me want to view your profile about 10 times more than if you are shirtless.

6. Do 99 percent of the guys on this app not own a shirt? Not that I mind some eye candy, but still...

7. Just because you own a cowboy hat and take a picture wearing it, it does not mean that you are a cowboy.

8. And why do people think it is so awesome to pose with a gun. OK, you can hold a gun, but can you shoot it?

9. If your bio includes how amazing Chick-Fil-A is you automatically have a conversation starter and a first date idea.

10. If you had a quote from "The Office" I probably swiped right without even looking at all of your pictures.

11. If you only had one or two pictures of yourself I automatically think you are a catfish. Like the kind on "MTV"...

12. Why would you make your first picture one of you and multiple people? I don't have time to guess who you are!

13. If you put your height, and I see you are at least six feet tall I am automatically more attracted to you.

14. Why post pictures of you smoking? Am I supposed to be more attracted to you for that?

15. If my first impression isn't, "Maybe I should give this guy a chance," I'm swiping left.

16. I think the better your bio, the more likely I am to swipe right.

17. I didn't realize how natural it felt to swipe left.

18. Being one who is not one for flirting, dating, making the first move, etc. I do not think this app is for me.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
