# 1:

Stepping out of your comfort zone usually makes for something great. If it makes your heart pound (in the right way), do it. You have to jump, sometimes.

# 2:

If you don’t know what to do, take the next right step - the precise one, like Glennon Doyle Melton says - even if it doesn’t make sense to anyone but you.

# 3:

Believe. In love. In a higher power or the universe. And in yourself, especially. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.

# 4:

Vulnerability is never easy. It’s terrifying before liberating but absolutely essential to wholehearted living.

# 5:

Everyone has a story, regardless of how seemingly perfect someone’s life is. You never know what people are dealing with.

# 6:

Take your own advice. Far too often we comfort others with the words that we actually need to hear.

# 7:

Create - music, art, writing, anything really - even if it’s bad. It’s good for the soul.

# 8:

If you’re not confident, fake it. Soon, you’ll realize you’re not faking it anymore and that it’s natural. Own it. 20 seconds of confidence can change everything.

# 9:

You can learn everything you need to know about a person from the way they treat people in retail and who work at restaurants.

# 10:

At the end of the day, you’re the one who’s going to have to live with the decisions you make. If you’re happy with yourself, that’s all that matters. And if you’re not, maybe you can figure out why that is.

# 11:

If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough. It’s a cliché, but it’s true. Turn your dreams into goals and your goals into action until your reality is your dream.

# 12:

Fearless doesn’t mean living without any fear. As Taylor Swift says, it’s living in spite of the things that scare you to death. It’s being scared and doing it anyways.

# 13:

Make the big decisions with your heart, and the small ones with your head. Trust your gut. Your heart always brings you home.

# 14:

Who you surround yourself with matters. A lot. You’re the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.

# 15:

Create your own reality. Know exactly what you want and go get it.

# 16:

You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. If you know what you want to do, go do it. There’s not one definition of success.

# 17:

There’s a difference between finding time and making time. Don’t make time for the people who don’t make time for you.

# 18:

Live in the now. Stop postponing your happiness and live wholeheartedly. We don’t have time for anything else.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
