Now that school has started back, I think most everyone has returned to their broke college ways. Here are 18 things all college kids living the broke life know to be true.

1. Getting invited out for dinner

Then the horrible moment when you think you have enough but you forget that you'll have to tip.

2. Rationing out supplies until you can get more for Christmas

The most wonderful time of year takes on an entirely new meaning.

3. When the time to buy text books rolls around

The words "the textbook is not required" are equivalent to "I love you"

4. When you decide to get your tuition's worth

Excuse me, I paid $3000 dollars for this meal plan and I intend to get my money's worth.

5. Deciding if things are actually worth the money

If I don't absolutely have to buy it then I'm not going to

6. Finally deciding to have a budget so your money lasts

Sure, if I only spend a dollar a week, I can last for 5 weeks. Perfect!

7. Deciding to make the best out of your situation

Any meal can be gourmet if you try hard and believe in yourself.

8. When your parents call to see how you're doing

Yeah if you could send me a couple dollars or a Walmart gift card that would be cool.

9. Bonding with all of your broke friends

If we all chip in a dollar, we can have enough for 1 pizza with no toppings.

10. Rationing out food when you have friends over

If you split one slice of pizza into 3, then you triple the amount of people you can feed.

11. When you finally come into some money

I'm sure I'll have some left after I pay all my bills and buy groceries... *cries*

12. When you figure out candy is cheaper than real food

Even though candy is totally real food.

13. Anytime you find out there will be free food

The community of broke college kids is the most supportive one I know

14. When you have to fill out financial aid forms

How do they know everything?

15. When you'll look for deals wherever you can

Is there a buy one semester get one free? That'd be pretty nifty

16. Not really knowing what happens to your money

I think all my money hides from me.

17. When you want to buy something

No I can't afford that, sorry!

18. Reaching the final level of desperation

Just let me have some money please.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows.
