The summer, just more than half way over, will be gone before you know it! Don’t let time pass you by. Savor the sweetness of summer by making the most of each day! Here are some ideas to spend your time well!

1. Reread your favorite book (or series).

There’s no better way to keep a sharp mind than rereading your favorite book. And if we are talking about books, then why not a whole series! "Harry Potter," anyone?

2. Create a summertime playlist.

Whether it’s on Spotify, iTunes or your mobile device, create your own summertime playlist to remind you of all those warm, sunny days year round!

3. Master the art of meditation…

Meditation is a great skill to master. Not to mention, it greatly benefits your mental health! Learning to meditate on a regular basis will help you handle stress in amazing ways when it comes to cranking out those A’s during the school year!

4. Or any art for that matter!

Art is a great way to express yourself. Find your favorite Pinterest art and DIY to decorate your home! Linked to the pic below are some ideas to get started.

5. Get into an unusual sport.

Learn the rules to a nontraditional sport. Everyone knows the scoreboard of basketball, football or soccer. Would you be able to keep up with rugby, parkour or archery?

6. Go hiking.

Good hiking trails can be found in unexpected places. Living in New Mexico, I love trails in the Jemez or Sandia Mountains. Get out there and be adventurous! Find a trail near you. You never know what you’ll find!

7. Camp in a mountainous region.

When it comes to camping, nothing compares to the experience pf being in the mountains. Rain or shine, the view is incredible.

8. Get a job.

The summer is a great opportunity to make some extra cash. Those cute sandals you’ve been drooling over? Consider them yours! Working over the summer will not only cushion your bank account, but score you some great deals on merchandise too!

9. Go on a picnic.

Pack some sandwiches and surprise someone with a special meal. Who doesn’t love a good picnic? For some non-traditional picnic picks, click on the pic below.

10. Take time for tea.

Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! As an obsessive tea drinker, I highly recommend hosting a quality, traditional tea to all my friends. Nothing brings people closer together than laughing over tea and scones.

11. Ponder your thoughts on a moonlit walk.

I am very partial to this one. I fell in love with my man over a moonlit walk and thoughtful talk. Beat the heat by lingering in the coolest moments of summer. However, I cannot over emphasize it enough, be safe!

12. Begin a journal.

When first deciding to journal, I never realized the impact it would have on my life. It helped me get control of my thoughts and decreased my anxiety. I never knew how much it would help me until I actually tried it. I love scribbling down interesting thoughts and ideas so I can come back to them later. Now, it seems like I write down everything!

13. Learn how to bake your favorite dessert.

I love food. It’s the best. After living on my own, I realized I didn’t know how to make any of my favorite treats. The summer is a great time to learn how to make fun foods for yourself, and show off to your friends.

14. Learn to knit or crochet.

The feeling of creating your own products feels so satisfying. Learn this easy skill on YouTube, and your possibilities are endless! Knitting a sweater for dog, crocheting a blanket for your newborn niece or creating a cool hat, it’s up to you!

15. Plan a staycation.

Ever think about all the fun things to do in your area? Well now is the time to do it! Create a list of all of the things in your town that sound interesting to you. Next, schedule a day and grab a few friends! There you have it, a summer to remember!

16. Attend a photo gallery.

Photo galleries are a fun way to view photographer’s masterpieces while gaining a different outlook on life. Photography is a fascinating and inspiring way to spend another day in paradise.

17. Explore a museum.

Wonder around a local museum, whether it be for art, dinosaurs, science, archaeology, or music. There is so much knowledge to absorb in museums of all shapes and sizes.

18. Host a party!

Whether it be a party for 50 people or just a few friends, everyone enjoys a good get together. Think of the location, snacks and beverages. Create a cool summer vibe with decorations and fun game ideas. Invite as many people as you like and party like an animal!

Hopefully this gives you some serious inspiration and ideas of how to spend the rest of your summer! I would love to see you guys' awesome ideas and summer pics in the comments below! Enjoy!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
