When we, as humans, get nervous, our minds can sometimes turn to catastrophic thoughts (thank you high school psychology). Our little brains get all worked up and spiral out of control. We often turn to illogical and highly improbable scenarios, but, at the time, they seem like realistic possibilities. So here is a list, of relatable and laughable things we think about before embarking on a first date.
.) What if I get stood up?
.) What if I get food stuck in my teeth and don’t notice?
.) What if I get arm pit stains from nervous sweating?
.) What if I laugh so hard that I snort?
.) Or worse… What if I laugh so hard that I pee?
.) What if it’s super awkward?
.) What if we have nothing to talk about?
.) What if his/her friends don’t like me?
.) What if I say something dumb?
.) What if I fart?
.) What if I start ugly crying?
.) What if I realize I don’t actually like him/her?
.) What if my stomach growls really loudly?
.) What if he/she thinks I’m someone that I’m not?
.) What if I sneeze during a kiss?
.) What if he/she is just interested in sex?
.) What if we don’t agree on major topics?
.) What if I offend him/her by accident?
The list can go on and on. But the bottom line is, be yourself. You won’t find a winner 100% of the time, simply because not everyone is meant to be together. And that’s okay. Because when you do find a person with whom you really, truly click, the feeling is… well… magical, incredible, relieving. So live for those moments. And for the moments that don’t go so well? Think of them as something to tell your grandkids about. You’ll laugh at them someday, even if that day isn’t today.
