Pop punk was in its prime in the early 2000s — so many angsty teenagers full of emotions, and so many songs to express that angst. There's no denying that some of those songs were pure gold. So we've made a list of the best songs to come out of our emo pop punk early 2000s stage.

1. "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" by Panic! At the Disco

Arguably everyone's jam, the bop that brought Panic! to fame, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" is the throwback song everyone loves.

2. "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers

This one is my next personal favorite, because I can't help but belt the lyrics every time it comes on. I've even heard remixes of this song at clubs, so you know it was a good one.

3. "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World

It doesn't much to get into this jam. When you listen to it, you know everything, everything will be just fine.

4. "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance

Would it really be a ranking of angsty teen songs without My Chemical Romance? This is arguably one of the OG My Chemical Romance songs that we all still sing along to.

5. "Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne

Because Stacy's mom has always had it goin' on.

6. "Dirty Little Secret" by All American Rejects

While All American Rejects had a bunch of hit songs in the early 2000s, this was the best of them all.

7. "crushcrushcrush" by Paramore

This was the best to play on Rock Band with all of my other angsty friends at sleepovers.

8. "American Idiot" by Green Day

The song that inspired a musical, American Idiot was a song with a story that we all sang along.

9. "Sugar We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy

Arguably one of those songs that made Fall Out Boy famous, "Sugar We're Going Down" is a jam we can all still get down to.

10. "Dear Maria, Count Me In" by All Time Low

Need I say more?

11. "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence

This song really does bring you back to life. It's inspired so many memes and vines, that you can't really forget about it.

12. "1985" by Bowling for Soup

We'll always be preoccupied with "1985."

13. "Ocean Avenue" by Yellowcard

We would stay up all night listening to these songs.

14. "Sk8er Boi" by Avril Lavigne

The best love song of the early 2000s. It was tragic yet the best burn song out there.

15. "All the Small Things" by blink-182

This is the song that carried me through middle school, and made us all want to see them live.

16. "Perfect" by Simple Plan

We all thought we related to this song when we were kids and our parents didn't understand us.

17. "My Friends Over You" by New Found Glory

"My Friends Over You" related to every broken relationship in middle school, because we all knew that we would pick our friends over any beau we had.

18. "Face Down" by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Another great bop to finish off this list, when push came to shove we would put this on.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
