Binge-watching is a serious habit, and with binge watching comes the ultimate decision of what to watch next after your current series comes to a conclusion. To help with this though, I devised a list of some of the greatest shows to binge watch on Netflix after you run out of things to watch because let’s face it, everyone always needs some new recommendations.
1. Penny Dreadful
Penny Dreadful is honestly one of the greatest shows that I’ve ever watched on Netflix. With the perfect amount of scare, gore, and literature’s most terrifying characters, Penny Dreadful is definitely one of my top 5 favorite Netflix shows. Now although Penny Dreadful recently came to an end, a spin-off series is rumored to be happening soon, so it’s best to catch up quickly.
2. Grey's Anatomy
If you love hurting and being in pain, then Grey’s Anatomy is certainly for you. With the 13th season currently premiering on ABC, there is just no words to describe the immense amounts of love that I feel for this show and its characters…now Shonda Rhimes on the other hand that’s another story.
3. The 100
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, 100 teenagers are sent down from space to Earth to determine if the planet is habitable, but along the way, they realize that they're not alone and must learn to survive.
4. Shameless
Although I just recently started Shameless on Netflix, it is easily one of the most entertaining shows out there. From depicting real world difficulties that some face to showing one of the greatest family dynamics I have ever seen, everyone needs to start watching Shameless ASAP if you haven't already.
5. How To Get Away With Murder
Viola Davis need I say anymore? If I do well let’s just say this show is purely murder and mystery and you may want to catch up quickly before season 2 hits the fan with all of the drama. I mean we’re two episodes in already and this season is absolutely mind blowing!
6. Sherlock
If you love Benedict Cumberbatch this is certainly the show for you. With his witty remarks and his sociopathic tendencies, Benedict plays the absolute best Sherlock I have ever seen in my life. Similar to many other shows on this list, it is all about the mystery and who killed who. But let’s face it, no description of Sherlock can do justice to the actual show itself and with Season 4 starting in January you may want to get on top of this show while you still can.
7. Being Human (U.K.)
If you love the supernatural, this show is certainly for you. From vampires to werewolves and even ghosts, Being Human (U.K.) is an extremely engaging show with a lot of plot twists and turns.
8. Burn Notice
If anyone has read my first article, you know my love for Burn Notice and Michael Westen, so it’s kind of self-explanatory why this show is on this list. It comes highly recommended. Oh, and there's also corporate espionage.
9. Once Upon A TimeOnce Upon A Time is a wonderful show to watch if you haven’t already. By connecting every fairy tale ever made together to formulate one giant story, amazing is definitely one of the few words to describe the overall whole of the show.
10. Quantico
Much like How To Get Away With Murder, the new season of Quantico has just started and it’s absolutely riveting already. From being accused of working as a terrorist inside of the FBI to attempting to find ways to clear her name, Alex Parrish makes this whole show worthwhile. Did I mention you learn a thing or two about FBI Recruitment Camp?
11. Private Practice
After binge watching Grey’s Anatomy for a whole summer and having to wait for Season 12 to amp up, I stumbled upon private Practice one day. Private Practice is a spin-off show based on Grey’s Anatomy that takes place right after Addison Montgomery leaves in Season 2. This show not only reflects Grey’s Anatomy so much, but it is also one of the best spin-off series that I have ever watched.
12. Criminal Minds
Despite Criminal Minds totally not being the same anymore since the departure of Shemar Moore and Thomas Gibson, it is easily one of the best crime shows on television to date. With eerily creepy story lines and very realistic cases, Criminal Minds is my all-time favorite show.
13. The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
This Netflix Original Series created by Tina Fey is honestly a blessing. The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is an extremely comical show that takes place after a woman is rescued from a doomsday cult and tries to assimilate into the modern day culture of New York City.
And let's not forget about Tituss Andromedon.14. American Horror Story
If you love being scared nearly half to death, American Horror Story is definitely the show for you. With each season telling a different story that somehow interconnects with a later season, AHS provides enough gore, horror, and paranoia to last a life time.
15. Grand Hotel
Now I’m just going to
throw this one out there, but Grand Hotel is certainly an acquired taste. Grand
Hotel is a Spanish television show—not a soap opera—about murder, mystery,
family lies, and an affair—or three. With 66 episodes spaced out over 3
seasons, this is the only show that got me through my Senior year of high
school and is definitely a must watch for any who dare to start it.
16. Ripper Street
Ripper Street, much like Being Human (U.K) and Sherlock, is a BBC Channel Original that follows the plot of crime and mystery occurring in London during the time of Jack the Ripper. Now if this peaks your interest already, I would definitely advise watching the show as the final season is premiering October 12th.
17. From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series
Much like the movie written and starred in
by Quentin Tarantino in 1996, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, is extremely similar
to the movie itself, but in show form of course. Taking place over 3 seasons
thus far, El Rey Network in coordination with Robert Rodriguez, who produced
the original movie, have taken this movie to a whole new level with comedic family banter, killing, prophecies, and snake-like people.
18. Charmed
Last on my list is one of the most classic television series to exist: Charmed. Charmed is a television show about sister witches who fight against evil warlocks and wizards trying to take the lives of innocents all over San Francisco. Oh and it also stars Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, and Rose McGowan.
Now if any of these shows sound remotely interesting, I would definitely recommend you watch them! Even if you're simply bored and need something to do, watch one of the shows listed. I guarantee you won't regret it.
