18 Reasons I Look Up To My Dad

As Father's Day falls on the 18th this year, here are 18 reasons why I look up to my dad:

1. His relationship with God

His knowledge and dedication to God inspire me to want to be a better Christian. He regularly attends his Bible study group, church, and always reminds me why it's important to have a strong relationship with God.

2. His great sense of humor.

We are always cracking jokes, and I can always count on him for a good laugh.

3. His creativity.

I always think I'm creative when I'm getting gifts for my mom, but he always one ups me!

4. His huge, giving heart.

He would give a stranger the shirt off his back. He does so much for his family, his community, and the people he surrounds himself with.

5. He pushes me.

He always pushes me to be the best version of myself that I can be. If I only give something 50% effort, he will give me a hard time because he knows I'm capable of more.

6. He is dependable.

I know that no matter how badly of a mistake I made or disappointed him, he will always love me and be there for me.

7. Everybody loves him.

I have never met a single person who dislikes my dad. He is so easy to love and so many people have the utmost respect for him.

8. He wants to spend quality time with his kids.

He will often suggest we go get coffee and just chat and hang out to catch up.

9. He works hard.

He goes out of his way to be how successful he is at his job.

10. He loves my mom.

Although my parents may give each other a hard time sometimes, I can tell my dad loves her just the same as he did when they first started dating.

11. He is quick to forgive.

One of the many qualities I admire most about him. Someone may do something to get on his very last nerve, but he always finds a place in his heart to forgive.

12. He doesn't let the change in culture affect his beliefs.

This world is constantly changing, and people are so easily influenced and brainwashed by the media. No matter what the public is saying or doing, by dad remains loyal to his beliefs and does not let ignorance affect him.

13. He's got my back.

He's stood beside me and supported me through every major decision I've made in life.

14. He taught me how I should be treated by a man.

My dad showed me how a man should respectfully take care and treat his woman and to never settle.

15. He says yes when my mom says no (you rock Dad)

Growing up, if I knew my mom would say no, I could always count on Dad to say yes!

16. He was the first man I've ever danced with.

I'll never forget the father-daughter dances I attended with him as a little girl.

17. He always reminds me he loves me.

He is constantly telling me he loves me and is proud of me. I am so lucky to have a dad who is and wants to be a huge part of my life.

18. He always let me push the last key of his piano when playing his favorite songs.

He was always the piano man, and I used to love hearing him play. There was always one specific song we both loved, and he would let me push the very was key of the song, and it turned out to be our special little thing.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
