18 Reasons To Look Forward To Fall

1. Perfect weather

You will no longer suffer from a heat stroke from being outside for two minutes.

2. Beautiful colors

There’s nothing better than waking up to an array of orange and red leaves falling everywhere. Everything just looks so much more beautiful, almost like a painting.

3. Bonfires

Friday night bonfires with your friends make for great memories.

4. Pumpkin patches

I wouldn’t trade my annual trips to the pumpkin patch to pick out the biggest and best pumpkin there to turn into a jack-o-lantern for anything!

5. Sweaters

Dressing cute suddenly becomes 10x easier. Throw on a comfy sweater with anything and you’re ready to go!

6. Halloween

The best holiday of the year from dressing as whatever you want and going out with your friends, to eating two pounds of candy that you know you don’t need.

7. Hot chocolate

Drinking hot chocolate in the brisk weather at night becomes your favorite part of the day.

8. Haunted houses

Nothing beats paying to get scared half to death with your best friends.

9. Pumpkin flavored everything

Pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin cookies, need I say more?

10. Thanksgiving

Sitting around the table eating your weight in food with the people you love most is one of the best things about fall.

11. Leggings

Leggings make every day easy and comfortable.

12. The smell of the crisp air

There’s just something about the way the air smells in the fall, especially when it rains.

13. The best sunsets

The sun hits the orange leaves and creates this sunburst in the sky. Nothing is more beautiful.

14. Football

Football season is the best time of year; tailgating with your friends, sitting under the lights, and cheering for your team. Nothing screams fall more than football.

15. Tasty apples

Fall also means apple season! Spending the day at the apple farm and picking the juiciest ones to eat before you even make it home.

16. Boots

Boots are the most comfortable shoes that make any look!

17. Cuddle time!

Snuggling up under a blanket by the fireplaces with that special someone is the most amazing feeling.

18. Your favorite fall TV shows are back

All the best shows air during the fall. I don’t know about you, but I am counting down the day for all my favorites to come back!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
