I thoroughly enjoy seeking inspiration, motivation, humor and positivity through the use of quotations from the classic writing legends, to anonymous sources, favorite movies or songs and poets. Paired with cute handwriting, art and photographs, I have found that inspirational quotes truly speak to me in a way that helps me breathe a little easier and think a little clearer.

I figured that at least one of these quotes would speak to others as loudly as they do for me, so I felt I should share my 18 favorite, inspirational quotes in order to help anyone get through the day.

1. We are humans and we feel human emotions; don't assume you are not allowed to express your own sadness, joy or otherwise.

2. Of Monsters and Men really put you in a different kind of mood, but a more thoughtful one.

3. When you need a little sass to motivate you, Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl, 2007-2012), is there to pick you up.

4. We Bought A Zoo was an emotional roller-coaster and gave me this helpful life tip.

Along with enough family-friendly, fatherly Matt Damon to melt your heart.

5. A friendly reminder that magic still exists.

6. Close your eyes and picture the Earth laughing and the waves of flowers that burst into color.

Let's try to make the Earth laugh enough to spread flower-laughs.

7. My justification for the nest on top of my head to be stylish.

8. The always-wise words of Leslie Knope. If you need a boost in positivity, a Parks and Recreation binge is the perfect remedy.

Leslie Knope always knows just the right thing to say...

9. Kunu (Paul Rudd, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, 2008) was oddly philosophical and also not a great surf instructor.

10. Julia Child is a great example of "positive role models".

Her love of food mixed with her drive to become a chef in a male-dominated industry, Julia Child was an inspiration on so many levels.

11. On a clear-sky night, take a minute to go somewhere quiet and just look up to admire the vastness of beauty and mystery.

Somehow you will feel calmer knowing that we do not need to overanalyze every detail, and just let our dreams inspire some creativity in others.

12. Going along with the star-themed inspiration, this quote blows my mind and makes me chuckle each time I read it.

13. I actually just talked about this with Dom...

I couldn't express exactly why I love to get up and look out the front windows and see the sun peeking up over the mountains, surrounding the lake. The stillness gives the impression that you are the only human being on Earth who is awake, and you feel as if Mother Nature and you have a secret together.

14. Tina Fey cuts right to the facts with this simple, yet informative, girl-power motto.

15. Just more female empowerment from another wise and talented actress; and an overall fantastic human being.

16. Everyone has their own definition of "hell", but regardless of those differences, the last half of this quote may resonate with so many of us who have fought hard for ourselves and smiled our way out.

17. I am an incredibly strong advocate for nonsense, laughter, humor and most varieties of shenanigans.

18. I know I quote Robin Williams a lot, but I like to repeat this one in my head when I am feeling particularly doubtful of my abilities and ideas...

...Don't let anyone tell you to accept "how things are" without decent enough research, and don't be too afraid to challenge the rigid-thinking that makes your ideas appear idiotic and impossible.

I hope you laughed, cried and took a minute to shut out the anxiety-inducing real world of deadlines and routines.

I hope I inspired you to choose your battles wisely, and change the world, or take on a more Paul Rudd-type of character that finds life-lemons to be of no importance, so bail whenever.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.
