The Met Gala is the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit. It is held the first Monday in May to raise money for the Costume Institute, the only one of the Met’s curatorial departments that has to fund itself. Many celebrities attend the Met Gala. It is often called the party of the year because it is extremely extravagant. The Met Gala is an invitation only event, and there’s actually a waiting list to get on the invitation list.

Here's a list of some of the best Met Gala outfits over the years.

1. Kate Hudson 2003.

The Met Gala is known for people wearing extravagant outfits. This dress is quite simple. Still, it looks gorgeous.

2. Beyoncé 2012.

It's no surprise that Queen Bey slays at the Met Gala.

3. Diane Kruger 2011.

That dress could pay for my college tuition.

4. Jessica Biel 2009.

Everything about her hair and dress is on point.

5. Jennifer Lopez 2010.

Well, Jennifer Lopez looks good in anything really.

6. Blake Lively 2011.

This is my personal favorite. The outfit is so unique and the color fits her perfectly.

This dress fits her perfectly.

It's must've been really hard to walk around with that trail.

2011 was Ashley Greene’s first time at the Met Gala. Her dress was classy and elegant.

Yes, Blake Lively has slayed at the Met Gala multiple times.

15. Kylie Jenner 2016.

Kylie wore this dress to her debut at the Met Gala. She posted on Snapchat afterward saying that this dress scratched her legs and made her bleed.

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
