Anyone who has ever worked in the customer service industry will tell you that it requires a whole lot of patience, fake-smiles, and deep breaths. Especially when you work in a restaurant, you're dealing with what we fondly call "people of the world," i.e. all kinds of normal and all kinds of crazy. At least it's free entertainment though, right?
1. When you started the shift with 6 pens and realize you only have one left.
2. When the customer insists in a not-so-not-demanding voice that the delicious pizza you just put on their table that you'd die to eat yourself isn't what they asked for.
3. When you take one glance at a table and you know right away they're gonna ask you for the appetizer first, the dressing on the side, water AND a soda (DIET, of course), and extra crayons to go with the kids menu
4. When the entire town has the grand idea to eat lunch at the restaurant at the exact same time
5. When people walk in and ask for a table right before the restaurant closes
6. When you thought it was a good idea to skip breakfast because "you weren't hungry at the time"
7. When a customer wants items taken off of their bill for no good reason
8. When that one table believes the sole purpose of the restaurant is to cater to their every need, not just cater their food
9. When that customer acting like the world is ending is making it seem like it's your fault that pineapple strudel was taken off the menu
10. When you see your manager talking to one of your tables
11. When the table informs you that it's their sister's mother's dog's birthday, and you know they're really asking for you to provide them with free dessert
12. When that group of college kids walks in but says they'll all pay together
Thank you Venmo!
