We just need a permanent break.

Unfortunately, it’s time. No more napping, reading for fun, or just enjoying your day. That’s right. Break is almost over. We’re officially in the New Year and there’s no more big holidays to look forward to other than Valentine’s Day. After all that joy and fun, it’s time to head back to the real world. Where you’re reminded of things like exams, your GPA, and your crippling debt. You don’t have Christmas break to look forward to any more, your probably don’t have plans for spring break, so we just wait for summer. Yet it seems like a lifetime away.

1. Think, “there’s no way it’s already over!”

Sorry friends, it is.

2. Cry

Let the tears out, it’s OK.

3. Consider dropping out

Is it really worth it?

4. Take a nap

You’ll be too busy for naps once the semester starts.

5. Get new school supplies

Old notebooks are full and the binder from last semester is falling apart.

6. Think, “do I need to order books?”

I won’t actually use it, but it says it’s mandatory. And it’s $300.

7. Wait, do I need to fill out the FAFSA again?

SO MANY QUESTIONS

8. Get emailed your syllabus

Yep, I’ll be dropping that class..

9. Pay your tuition

*cringe

10. Die a little inside

That’s A LOT of money..

11. Wonder where your fees even go

As if tuition isn't high enough already.

12. Eat one last home-cooked meal

Let’s be real, we know you survive off of ramen and leftover takeout.

13. Say goodbye

Mom is crying, little siblings are crying, dad is acting like he’s not. It’s a big deal.

14. Make your way back

The trip back to campus is never as fun as the trip home.

15. Unpack all your things

Or wait until you need something, dig through everything, and realize you forgot it.

16. Meet up with your friends

The only reason you’re happy to be back!

17. Find out that you already have homework

How is that possible?

The professor hates us.

We’re doomed.

18. Finally, the first day of class

Somehow, I’m already behind. How is that possible?

And one day far, far away you'll be graduating and you'll never have to go through this again.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
