18 Feelings People Who Grew Up Jewish Understand

Being a member of the tribe is as much a culture as it is a religion. We've gone through the summer camps, the long hours of Hebrew school, the endless questions (not that we mind!), and the occasional Christmas envy. The family gatherings and the endless food have always been there to comfort you. It may have been hard, but it's the way you were brought up. Here are 18 feelings you've more than likely had growing up Jewish.

1. When you tried to fit in with the cool kids in school...

2. That moment when you drop the bomb to friends that Drake is a member of the tribe...

3. When someone hears you're Jewish and says, "I'm German..."

4. When you get to Grandma's house and see all the food...

5. Then she puts out all your favorites and you're like...

6. You were in one of these...

7. When someone makes a Jewish joke and you're like...

8. When your mom tries to be cool...

9. She always thinks she knows what is best for you...

10. You've tried (or thought of) using an app or website like this...

11. As a kid, you lived for these Rugrats specials...

12. When people ask you if you "Speak Jewish..."

13. You still don't know the answer to this question...

14. Seeing all your friends decorate their Christmas trees like...

15. And having people ask you if you still celebrate Christmas...

16. Having your Bar/Bat Mitzvah made you the coolest kid (at least for the five hours it lasted)...

17. Even though it contained memories you'll never live down...

18. But you know you wouldn't change a thing about your childhood!

If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
