With 2016 behind us, it's time to push on and move forward into 2017. No matter how 2016 treated you, 2017 can be a year for new beginnings. Even if you feel 2016 was your best year yet, 2017 can be better even better. You can do so many things, see so many places, and meet so many people. The opportunities are endless. All it takes is a little motivation.
1. Travel.
Go somewhere you’ve never been before, whether it be across the world, or just the town over.
2.Bring people up instead of tearing them down.
Even if you don’t like what someone is doing, as long as it isn’t hurting anyone, let them be.
3. Stop procrastinating.
Just do the work when it’s assigned. Whether is something with work or school, just do it. You know you’ll have to do it eventually, so might as well do it before you have to rush through the entire thing in an hour in order to have it done before the deadline.
4. Spread positivity.
Start living by the saying: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. Being nice to people will make you and everyone around you feel good.
5. Get rid of toxic people.
Leave them in 2016. You don’t have to give these people a reason as to why you’re done with them. If they suck as people, they don’t deserve to be in your life. Block their number, and move on. It’s as simple as that.
6. Build up your self confidence.
Work on your self-esteem. Do something new with your hair, go for a run, or even do something as simple as smile. You’re hot, and it’s time to start realizing that.
7. Do something that you've been wanting to do for a long time.
Go skydiving. Drive across the country in a van with your best friends. Talk to the boy you’ve thought was cute for months. Honestly, what are you waiting for?
8. Start saving some money.
Something as little as putting your change in a jar will help. It might only seem like a few dirty nickels now, but it’ll add up.
9. Learn something new.
Want to be able to speak Italian? Or be able to cook a fancy gourmet meal? Ok, well now’s a great time to do that.
10. Let go of unnecessary grudges.
Is it really necessary to hate Jessica because she flirted with the boy you liked in 6th grade? There’s no need to give her a dirty look every time you pass her in Walmart. Let it go.
11. Smile more.
Very simple, yet very important. A simple smile to a stranger can make their day. It also always makes you look better, so that’s a plus too.
12. Text an old friend.
I’m not saying to go crazy and only eat celery, but limiting McDonald’s trips to once every couple weeks instead of almost everyday would make you feel much better.
14. Set a beneficial long-term goal.
Even if it's something small or stupid, it's still an awesome feeling after reaching a goal you've set for yourself. And don't quit week two like you do every other year.
15. Spend more time with family and friends.
These are the best people you know, so spend time with them.
16. Meet new people.
If you want to just make some friends, talk to the girl you sit next to everyday in Geography. She might be an awesome person.
17. Get off your phone.
Every once in a while, put your phone down and actually just be at the place you're at. Put it down for like two hours and actually hangout with your friends.
