Everyone has times where life just weighs you down, but when these times hit the best thing to do is to take care of yourself. Everyone will have different needs but here's some ways to take care of yourself on your off days.

1. Take a walk.

Walking can help clear your mind and it's always good to get your body up and moving.

2. Hang out with your pet.

Animals can be extremely calming and comforting so if you can spend some time with one, do it.

3. Read a book.

Reading can help you escape a little bit from whatever is going on which can help you feel better.

4. Workout.

Working out scientifically releases dopamine and endorphins which make you feel better.

5. Watch a tv show or movie you enjoy.

Like reading, watching tv can help you escape and relax from the pressures around you.

6. Hang out with friends.

Being around the people you love is always a good thing and especially helps when you're feeling down.

7. Indulge in comfort food.

It may not be healthy, but it makes you feel better so it's worth the extra calories.

8. Write down your feelings.

Whether you keep a journal or not, sometimes just writing about how you feel can help you release some of your negative feelings and in turn feel better.

9. Meditate.

Meditation isn't for everyone, but for most people it helps clear the mind and relax.

10. Get a coloring book and color.

Everyone loves to just release their inner child and color so go ahead, it'll definitely make you feel happier.

11. Take a nap.

Sleep is a wonderful thing and in hard times can be extremely refreshing.

Buying yourself something, even if it's small, can help you feel happy.

13. Get a facial or get your nails done.

Pampering your body can feel amazing and helps you feel better about yourself.

14. Make a list of things you love about yourself.

This helps give you a positive perspective about yourself. Seeing your positive attributes can make you feel better about yourself.

15. Listen to soothing music.

Whether you like classical, nature sounds, or maybe just your normal music, it can be really relaxing to just listen to music that you enjoy.

16. Make a list of your favourite memories.

Remembering some of your favourite times can help you fell better and remind you of the good things in your life.

17. Go easy on yourself.

You're only human so you aren't perfect, but that okay. Take the time to realize that you are doing the best you can and that you can't beat yourself up over every little mistake.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
