17 Verses For Overthinking

My God is not a God of confusion, but a God of peace.

During this crazy time of year, my head starts going into places that I just cannot control. I'll start pondering about certain deadlines for classes, and then it turns into how one simple grade can ruin my entire future. I will think about how people depend on me, and if I fail, how it will turn out for them. It's not the most comforting thing in the entire world to always being thinking about how things can go wrong.

Often times I am overthinking for one of three verses:

1. I'm worrying about "what ifs" when I don't need to be.

2. I'm taking something personally, that doesn't really have to deal with me.

3. I care too much about what people say.

However, lately, I have realized something. Overthinking takes too much effort. You put so much energy into it, it just drains you- both physically and mentally. And here's the other thing: it's useless. What is overthinking going to accomplish in life? When I do overthink, it's because I think I'm making my little world better. I'm picking up the pieces and putting them back together. But that isn't the case at all.

God intended us to have a "full life." But I'm almost positive that this life isn't supposed to be filled with anxiety over what I will eat for breakfast two weeks for now. This "full life," doesn't include fear that drowns us in a well of our own dreams. God's life for us is filled with love. Love that is immeasurable. 1 John 4:18 says, "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."

For times like this, God gives us His Word. Here are 17 verses that really show how God has control over every little worry we have.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
