1. There are bad people out there and not everyone has good intentions for you. Don't forget that. Be nice to people but realize who's actually going to be happy for you when something good happens in your life.

2. Don't be sad if the person you're talking to doesn't text you back. Never base your happiness off of someone else’s existence. You're right, they might be busy, but they might also not want to text you back. They should never have that much control over your feelings. Remember that this person probably won't matter five years from now. You are good enough for anyone, especially yourself. Go ahead and text your best friends if you want to talk to someone.

3. Say what you need to say. Don't wait until tomorrow. Cliche as it sounds, we are never given a tomorrow, don't expect there to be another day for another chance. Take it now, today, and don't regret it.

4. Take chances. Go to places you wouldn't usually go. Go on adventures. Go on dates that are only in movies. You're young. When else are you going to be able to go to parties, cities, or other countries without having to take "vacation days" from work?

5. Ex's are ex's for a reason. You don't buy back the clothes after you return them; why bring someone that didn't work out the first or second time back into your life? Never let an old flame burn you twice.

6. Stay organized. It's never too late to get a planner or start writing dates and reminders on your phone. Staying organized of your time, money, school work, and etc. will get you far in life.

7. If you think today was a bad day, go ahead sit there and cry about it if you need to but then grab a box of tissues, wipe those tears away, retouch your makeup, and stay strong. You're going to be okay. I promise. It's okay to cry. It's okay to show your emotions. If something makes you angry, say so. The issue will never be solved if you never say anything.

8. Count your blessings, not your calories. There are people out there that can't even afford half of the stuff you can eat. Of course, eat healthy, but you shouldn't hate yourself for eating a couple Twinkies here and there. You deserve it.

9. Replace your "I'm sorry's" with "Thank you's". Instead of saying "I'm sorry you waited for me" say "Thank you for waiting on me." Instead of saying "I'm sorry for being such a mess" say "Thank you for loving me and carrying about me unconditionally."

10. Ask questions. instead of acting like you know everything. People don't get smart by staying silent. They ask questions and learn from others. You aren't stupid for asking questions, you are smarter for wanting to know everything.

11. Be nice to your family. One day you will be a mom, sister, or an aunt to somebody. Treasure every minute with them and don't take it for granted. Moms give the best advice, don't forget to go ask for it.

12. Be the friend you would want to be friends with. Be there for your friends when they're going through something tough and celebrate through the good. Find your true friends and stick close to them.

13. Work to achieve your dreams and goals every day. You should feel closer to it every single day. If not, work harder.

14. Take lots of pictures. It sucks but sometimes pictures are the only thing left. Memories may fade, but you'll have the pictures to remind you of the good or the bad.

15. Work hard in school. People always say that they wish they could go back to school. Don't take it for granted. Study hard and make good grades. After all, you're paying for it.

16. Always be honest. I know the truth may hurt sometimes, but it's better to be honest than to lie to someone you love. You'll feel a lot better too.

17. Remember you deserve the world. You deserve to be loved. You deserve to be someone's first choice, their priority. You deserve to thrive. You deserve to be happy. Don't waste your youth and go have fun. Take a deep breath and live.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
