Williamsport is a small town located in north-central Pennsylvania and notoriously known for Little League Baseball and Lycoming and Penn College. Everyone holds a special place in their heart for their hometown and though Williamsport is small, and most of us itch to get away from it as we grow older, it still is part of who we are. Here are some telltale signs that you are from Williamsport.

1. Whenever anybody asks you where you're from, you immediately say, "A small town in central Pennsylvania," because nobody will actually know the name of it.

2. When pushed to name the town, you say Williamsport and are met with a questioning look.

3. You then ask, "Have you ever heard of Little League Baseball?" and suddenly everyone knows exactly where you're talking about.

4. The Lycoming Mall is the only mall you knew as a child, making any other mall look like the best place on earth.

5. You run into at least a few people you know while out grocery shopping/going out to eat.

6. "The Bridge Game" is one of the biggest football games of the season, and if you go you will literally see everyone you know.

7. Whenever you explain where the Giant or restaurants are in your town to other people, you always say it's on the Golden Strip.

8. People are then confused when you say that because they have no idea what it is.

9. The restaurants downtown are delicious and you'd rather go there than anywhere on the Golden Strip.

10. There are no venues for cool concerts/any exciting events in Williamsport, so if you go to see a concert you're either going to Philly or Pittsburgh; there is literally no in-between.

11. Once the Little League Welcome Parade is over, you make no plans with anybody and avoid going anywhere for at least a week-and-a-half.

12. If you do go out anywhere during Little League, you better be prepared to face some traffic.

13. Even though you bash on Little League, you know you used to go there when you were in middle school with all of your friends and walk around the field at least 10 times.

14. You have gone to the creek to go swimming at least once in your life.

15. You refer to the movie theaters as "the one downtown" and "the one by the mall."

16. You've been on the Hiawatha at least once.

17. No other ice cream place will ever compare to Eder's.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
