"Your hair is so long!” This is just one of the many phrases you might hear on a daily basis, if in fact you do have long hair. While having long locks offers a certain style to your look, it also becomes a part of your identity. I have had long hair for the majority of my life and have come to realize that while having long hair is pretty, it is also quite the struggle.

1. A short shower for you runs at least ten minutes long.

It takes time to wash and condition this much hair!

2. The bi-weekly drain unclogging.

You never really realize just how much hair you're loosing until you have to unclog the shower. Drano has become one of my closest friends.

3. Constantly having to clean out your hair brush.

Brush through your hair just once, and the entire hairbrush is completely full.

4. Having to replenish your shampoo and conditioner way too often.

Maybe I should just start buying my shampoo and conditioner in bulk to prevent frequent trips to the hair product isle at Target.

5. Never having time to actually do your hair.

It takes long enough to dry my hair, not to mention if I want to curl it or straighten it takes about another 45 minutes.

6. Wearing your hair up in a cute pony and then consequently getting a headache.

7. Getting your hair caught in literally anything possible.

Car windows, seat belts, hand-held fans, etc.

8. A hair appointment takes over an hour.

Even if all the appointment involves is a shampoo and cut. The majority of the time is spent brushing your hair and then blow drying it.

9. Getting strangled by your own hair in your sleep if its down.

Sleeping with your hair down can be a very risky decision, you might wake up to find your long locks have wrapped themselves around your neck.

10. Finding your hair literally everywhere.

It doesn't just end up on your black shirt, it ends up on all of your clothes, the floor, the shower, and pretty much anywhere else you can think of. You would think after all of that hair loss you would have less hair, but yet your hair still remains long and untamed.

11. You can forget trying to get away with a messy bun.

Your hair ends up taking up the entire top of your head and looks more like a donut than a cute chic bun.

12. Having to constantly replace hair ties.

Our wrists usually sport more than one hair tie, because one of them is bound to get stretched out, or worse break due to our large amount of hair.

13. Having to stop mid work out to re-fix your hair.

After all of the running, stretching, and lifting, your once perfect pony has fallen and you have to stop in the middle of your cardio to fix it.

14. Getting your hair in your food.

Anytime you eat, there lies the very real possibility that your hair is going to invade your precious food. There is simply no avoiding it.

15. What even are bobby pins?!?

We understand that bobby pins are intended to hold our hair in place, but are they really even useful if you have to use 15 just to hold your hair in place? Not to mention their tendencies to magically disappear.

16. Riding in the car with the windows down is pretty much a disaster.

Wind + Hair = An actual nightmare.

17. Even when you think you're ready for a change, you can't seem to part ways with your long hair.

Yes, your hair may be a pain to deal with, but when faced with the decision to cut it off, you just can't seem to part ways with your long beautiful locks.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
