17 Struggles Of A Short Girl

If you're 5'3 or under, you're probably considered to be a bit on the short side. Now there's no shame in being tall, it's just that you have different struggles than us shorties. Here are some things that us short girls have all heard or experienced before!

1. "Wow, you're really short!"

Really I had no idea, thank you for telling me something I didn't know!

2. "You're like a munchkin!"

Just so you know, all short people hail from Munchkin Land.

3. "Short girls are crazy!"

Don't worry guys, no matter the shape or size, all girls are crazy.

4. "Why are you so short?"

I don't know, try asking my parents, they made me like this!

5. When a tall person pats you on the head:

If you want to pat a short person on the head, don't! We hate that! We are people, not a puppy!

6. When tall people stand in front of you:

We can't see over you, that's not how it works! That's why we get to stand in the front!

7. "You're the perfect height for an armrest."

If you thought patting short people on the head was a good idea, then you probably think using us as an armrest is too. It's worse, we're people not a chair!

8. Wearing heels and still being shorter than everyone else:

No matter what you do, you're still short, so why bother wearing heels?

9. "How tall are you?"

We don't get this question too often, it's usually something we ask tall people.

10. When tall people hold stuff over our heads to make us reach for it.

If you're taller than us, of course, we won't be able to reach it!

11. Trying to walk next to tall people:

We can't match your strides with our little legs!

12. Your feet almost never touch the floor when you sit in a chair.

You feel like a little kid trying to sit in the big kid chair.

13. Short girls always get lost in crowds.

My tall friends always lose me in crowds. It's not their fault, I'm short and I tend to wander.

14. You can't make eye contact with many people.

It's not that we don't want to make eye contact, it's just that most people aren't in our field of vision.

15. "Have you always been this short?"

As far as I know, this is as tall as I'm going to get!

16. But short people do miss out on some things.

We miss out on that world up there in the high altitudes with the tall people. What is the weather like up there, we'll never know!

17. We've all come to terms with being short.

We're not short, we're just unusually not tall.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
