Here come the sighs and "ughs" as we prepare to go back school.
1. Buy a planner and ACTUALLY use it.
We all have forgotten when there was homework due, the date of a test, or even missed our friend's birthday. We all have bought a planner and planned on using it, but never stuck with it. This year, go buy a planner and keep track of when things are! I promise you, you'll be more organized, you will feel like your life is more put together (it will never be completely put together), and you will be more prepared for your classes than you were before
2. Drink a bottle of water first thing in the morning, keep one with you throughout the day, and hydrate at night.
College is full of germs, sick students, and dehydration from the weekend. Be sure to drink as much water as possible so that you don't have to miss class, the weekend out, or events taking place during the week.
3. Put a percentage of your paycheck away in savings.
When you're in college you're broke. If you were to actually save and set aside some money every week/every other, your stress level might go down knowing that you're not going to scramble for quarters to go get food or pay for laundry. If you have enough saved by the end of the year, take a trip or go buy something you've always wanted instead of wasting that money on pointless things like eating out or Starbucks.
4. Find a new hobby other than Netflix.
Rather than relying on Netflix when you're bored, try reading a book, painting, journaling, writing, exercising, cooking, photography, videography, dancing, playing a sport, or even studying. Get your creative juices going and I guarantee you will be much happier and more productive.
5. Limit your time on social media.
Don't let Instagram be the reason why you failed that test. If you are addicted to social media, then give yourself a specific amount of time on it. If you set a time to get off, the chances are higher that you'll get off of it rather than not having a time, and could be on there all night.6. Go grocery shopping.
Ask anyone in college, a majority will say they have spent the most money on food and alcohol. Help your bank account and your body by going grocery shopping and meal planning. It's a much healthier option than eating out, and will also help you save a little cash. Meal prepping before the week starts isn't a bad idea either, because you can grab it and go.
7. Do what makes you happy.
At the end of the day, you shouldn't compare yourself to anyone else but you. Strive to be the best you can be, and everything else will align. Don't look at how others are living their lives and compare yourself, but see what/how they are doing it and get inspiration. Keep your eye on your goal, not someone else's.
