16 Songs That Go With Our Daily Activities

Music gets us through the day, regardless of whether it's up-tempo music for the gym or peaceful music for studying. Below are some songs that definitely go with each of the headers either because of the title, the actual lyrics, or even the beat.

1. First day of school.

“I’m So Excited” – Pointer Sisters. Just like the song says: You're excited to see all your friends again and jump back in the UMD scene.

2. College parties.

“I Love College” – Asher Roth. This song basically encompasses your Thursday-Saturday nights, whether it's hanging out with your friends in their dorm, hanging out around College Ave/Route 1, or clubs in DC.

3. Passing a midterm you thought you would fail.

“Big Rings” - Drake & Future. This song celebrates doing well and succeeding so it's fitting for when you actually do well on a test you thought you were going to fail.

4. When UMD wins a football game.

“Walking On a Dream” – Empire of the Sun. We all love our football team, whether they win or lose, but especially when they actually win (it almost feels like a dream).

5. When you fail a test you thought you would pass.

“Don't Wanna Fight" - Alabama Shakes. The raspy voice of the lead singer perfectly sums up how you feel after studying for hours only to get maybe a 60 - done with everything.

6. Actually making it to the gym after saying you would for days.

“The New Workout Plan”Kanye West. The song, in a way, gives you instructions on how to work out and tells you the benefits.

7. Studying for exams.

“Work” – Rihanna. You feel accomplished that you're actually putting in work work work work work.

8. Going on Tinder.

“Down in the DMs” - Yo Gotti. Like the song says, "It goes down in the DMs".

9. Eating diner food.

“Toxic” – Britney Spears. Or at least to me it is. I'm not a huge fan, but there are people who are in love with diner food.

10. Trying to order food from Route One when you’re broke.

“Cut it” – O.T Genasis ft. Yung Dolph. Their "price is way to high" and they "need to cut it," because honestly we're all broke college students.

11. When the party isn’t as fun as you thought.

“All My Friends” – Snakeship, Tinashe, Chance the Rapper. This song and "Here" by Alessia Cara sum up a lot of people's feelings when they're just not into it that night.

12. When you realize you have more than $25 in your bank account.

“Donald Trump” – Mac Miller. It's a huge accomplishment having more than $10 in your account. You feel like you can actually afford things.

13. Walking by the screaming guy near Stamp.

“I Kissed a Girl” – Katy Perry. Because that guy really needs to shut up.

14. When it’s Sunday and you're craving Chick-Fil-A.

“No Air” – Jordan Sparks and Chris Brown. Honestly whenever you can't get Chick-Fil-A nuggets with the sauce, it's like "living in a world with no air".

15. Going to Chipotle and it’s not crowded.

“7/11” – Beyonce. Whenever you don't have to stand in a 20-minute line for a burrito, you know it's a great day.

16. When you open up one of the basketball players' Snapchat.

"My Boo" - Ghost Town Dj's. By now you've seen #RunningmanChallenge everywhere, from professional athletes to around campus to other universities.

So there you have it! The playlist for every University of Maryland student's life. Hopefully you can all identify with most of these!

On the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf is an icon. She's what every girl aspires to be. She's beautiful, confident, and can handle any obstacle that life throws at her. Sure, she may just be a television character. But for me, she's a role model and theres a lot that can be learned from Queen B.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
