17 Small Things To Do Before School Starts

It is back to school time! The cringy commercials have started rolling, yellow buses have started showing and move-in day is right around the corner. With two weeks left, it seems summer is over. However, it is almost over. We still have some time. So, before you go back, here are 17 things you can do to complete your summer!

1. Read a book of your choice. Who knows when you'll get to read for pleasure again.

2. Go back to school shopping because who doesn't get a rush from back-to-school shopping?... I'll wait.

3. Hang out with your high school friends because the next time you'll possibly see them is Thanksgiving or Christmas Break!

4. Binge watch all the Netflix Shows on your "My List" tab. Do not go into the school year without knowing if Jane will choose Michael or Rafael. (I'm currently watching Jane the Virgin)

5. Go on that last minute road trip you've been talking about all summer.

6. Go to the movies and see that film you've been dying to see all summer.

7. Visit your family before you leave. Although they might drive you crazy, you know you'll miss them while you're away. Maybe organize a family game night. Bowling is always an option.

8. COOK. EVERY. CHANCE. YOU. GET. You will regret it if you do not.

9. Volunteer in your community before you leave. Continue to help build up your community.

10. SLEEP. Enjoy it while it lasts.

11. Have a day at the pool because it will be closing soon.

12. Take this time to get to a peaceful state. Go to church, meditate or do whats right for you but try to enter into a state of tranquility before school starts.

13. Get that last minute piercing or tattoo you've been wanting all summer.

14. Pick up a few extra shifts at work because how else will you survive once you pay for books?

15. Spend a day for pampering. Go to the hair salon, get your nails done and get that massage. It may be a while before you get to experience those luxuries again.

16. Clean your room before you go. So when you come home, it will feel as though you never left.

17. Relax and get excited for the new possibilities and challenges of this next school year.

Yeah, Summer is coming to a close and it is time to welcome a new school year. It is time to make new memories with your college family, study hours for certain classes, pencil in nap times and continue to learn how to be independent. Try to enjoy the little time you have left and the simple pleasures you have now because once school starts, studying and sleep deprivation with a little bit of starvation is what we have to look forward to right? *insert crying emoji here*

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.
