Here's just a few signs that you've lived in Lincoln County. Whether you are from Hawk Point to Elsberry to Moscow Mills... or anywhere in between, you're bound to have experienced a thing or two from this list.
1. Dos Primos or Stefanina's have topped the list of your favorite restaurants.
2. You wave at every stranger you pass on the county back roads.
3. You know the Lincoln County fair is the event of the summer... or maybe of the entire year.
4. The only time you've experienced traffic jams in Lincoln County is during fair week.
5. You either graduated in a class of 500 students or a class of less than 50.
6. If you lived in Troy, you attended six different grade schools by the time you graduated high school.
7. You've been to Frenchman's Bluff once or twice, or twenty times. It gets prettier every time.
8. You think Lincoln County is the perfect distance from the city. Close enough, yet still rural.
9. You wonder how people who live farther west from St. Louis get to go to Cardinals games.
10. Late night munchies call for Denny's with your best friends.
11. You have quick access to almost any fast food chain... But we can't get one dang Applebee's?
12. At some point, your high school had a camouflage themed sporting event.
13. You have to drive 45 minutes to the nearest shopping mall. But really it just makes going to the mall more exciting.
14. A high school party usually meant hanging out around a bonfire in a field somewhere (particularly in Silex).
15. Everyone always knew who was dating who.
16. When you're out of state and people ask where you're from, you reply "St. Louis" instead of the actual name of your town. Because people would have no idea where you're talking about.
17. You can see the stars shining bright in the sky every night and it's a gorgeous sight.
18. The people in your community really know how to pull together in times of need and take care of each other.
19. Growing up, you always heard people say they hated living in your small town. You might have even been one of them. But whether or not you ever leave it, you come to realize it's a pretty great place to be.
Written for those who proudly call Lincoln County their home.
