17 Resolutions For College Women In 2017

Let's make 2017 the year of becoming the best versions of ourselves. Here is a list of 17 resolutions for 2017 that is filled with self-love, acceptance, and intention.

1. Be actively present.

Whether that is at school, with friends, or at work, be and live in the moment. We need to learn to be less reliant on technology and put our phones down.

2. Let go of expectations.

When expectations are high, you become very disappointed when it doesn’t go exactly your way. Managing and overall lowering your expectations is the key to happiness.

3. Save money.

Own the power to control your future. Start saving your money now, even if it's a little bit each month. Future self with thank you.

4. Travel.

Make it a goal this year to travel. Whether it is near or far, open your mind to new things so you can experience life in a new and exciting light.

5. Exercise and eat healthy.

Diets are sometimes not the answer. Instead, exercise regularly and eat healthier. Being consciously aware of what you put into your body will truly change your life for the better.

6. Be kind to others.

The most simple thing you are capable of. You never know who is fighting a hard battle in their life. Be kind to strangers and your loved ones, always.

7. Let go of TOXIC people, thoughts, and behaviors.

Some synonyms for the word toxic are harmful, manipulative and negative. When things aren’t adding up in your life, start subtracting. That includes toxic people, toxic thoughts, and toxic behaviors. Control, alt, delete.

8. Forgive more.

Life is too short to hold grudges. Leave things in the past and continue to move on with your life. It is human for people to make mistakes.

9. Learn patience.

This can be very difficult, but it is necessary. Good things happen to those you wait. Having patience not only benefits you but those around you, too.

10. Take risks.

Be the strong, independent woman that you are and show how confident you are. You have to pursue success if you want it, and you will learn from them as well.

11. Let go of a fixed mindset.

Your mind is a powerful thing. Change your fixed mindset into a growth mindset. The law of attraction truly does work.

12. Don't sweat the small stuff.

You are a busy person. Don’t stress yourself out even more by worrying about minor details. Start now so the little things don’t end up taking over your life.

13. Be positive.

Negativity is a powerful thing and can really bring a person down. Get rid of it and learn to look at the glass full instead of half empty.

14. Stop being a perfectionist.

Life isn’t perfect. Perfectionists (like myself) spread themselves thin trying to emanate qualities in every aspect of life. That can be very draining, so take a couple moments and just breathe.

15. Hold yourself accountable.

It can be hard to stay consistent with goals that you set for yourself. If you want to achieve your goals, make the conscious effort to hold yourself accountable. You can do it.

16. Let go of things you can’t control.

If you can’t control the outcome of the situation, don’t stress about it. You will drive yourself crazy if you continue to do that. Life will be easier once you let that go.

17. Live intentionally.

Three words: live with intention. You will appear more genuine and sincere to others. Increase your self-awareness and challenge yourself. I believe in you!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
