18 Reasons Why We Still Watch Avatar: The Last Airbender
Wikipedia

If you're like me you grew up watching Avatar: The Last Airbender on Nickelodeon. It was a cartoon show about kids with special "bending" powers, trying to save the world from the evil Fire Lord. Avatar: The Last Airbender was more than just a kid's show; it was way cooler than that, and that's probably why so many of us still love to watch it! So here are some reasons why Avatar: The Last Airbender is awesome:

1. Benders

"Benders" are people who can control an element through the use of martial art moves. Because who wouldn't want to control the elements (water, fire, earth and air) and totally kick butt!

2. The Gaang

There's no group of friends cooler than The Gaang! Not only do they have mad fighting skills, but they defeated the Fire Lord all in the course of one year! They showed us strength and the true meaning of friendship.

3. Uncle Iroh's Wisdom

An episode wouldn't be complete without Uncle Iroh talking about tea or giving some life advice. He's the goofy uncle we all wish we had!

4. Zuko's Honor

Zuko had to be one of my favorite characters of the entire series. We get to see him grow and search for the avatar to regain his honor. He gave the show an edgy, teen angst vibe.

5. Sokka's Sarcasm

Sokka is the sassiest member of Team Avatar. He gives us the perfect dose of humor in each episode. He's just a guy with a boomerang, he didn't ask for all this flying and magic!

6. Appa and Momo

Appa and Momo's relationship is one of the most complex in this entire series. We see them battle it out, loose each other and reunite. And who can forget the time Appa ate Momo? They're simply the cutest!

7. Cactus Juice

Because it's the quenchiest! Listen to Sokka and drink the cactus juice!

8. The Boulder

We love when The Boulder feels conflicted.

9. Fusion Animals

The Avatar world has crazy cool animals like turtle-ducks, sky bison, and platypus-bears. These creative combinations of animals help make this world seem more real. Plus who wouldn't want their own flying bison?!

10. Bosco

We all know and love Bosco, the Earth King's pet bear. Yes, just...bear.

11. The White Lotus

Because "All old people know each other" and these old guys got mad skills!

12. The Ember Island Players

We all love that episode where Team Avatar goes to see a play about themselves. It seemed like a good idea, like going to see Avatar: The Last Airbender The Movie, and we all know how well that went...

13. Girl Power

It's always refreshing to have strong female leads, we don't always see that in children's cartoons. But in Avatar: The Last Airbender we're introduced to so many strong female characters with diverse backgrounds.

14. Crazy Villains

For being a children's show, Avatar has very complex and very dark bad guys. The Fire Lord, who is the main villain, is voiced by Mark Hamill. This is appropriate casting, considering Hamill has been the voice of several villainous characters, such as the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series.

15. Aang's Daydreams

If you've ever been sleep-deprived, you know how Aang felt in this episode!

16. The Swamp

"Pants are an illusion and so is death."

17. Penguin Sledding

"Will you go penguin sledding with me?" Honestly, who wouldn't say yes to that question?

18. The Legend of Korra

If you were sad when Avatar: The Last Airbender ended, don't worry! The creators gave us Korra! She is the Avatar after Aang, and we get a whole new set of adventures with Korrra. But the great thing about this series is that we get to see some familiar faces and have some closure on story lines from the original series.

There are many reasons why we love Avatar: The Last Airbender. So my fellow Avatar fans, I'll leave you with this.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

What is "talking?" How does one "talk?"

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
