17 Places You Need On Your Dallas, Texas Bucket List

Most people can say they've heard of Dallas and have visited a few times, but have they really seen the best in Dallas? Whether you enjoy coffee, food, shopping, or art, Dallas has a million places to offer that are not only entertaining but extremely unique and, to put it simply, fun. Here are 17 places that you must visit when you come to Dallas. Weekend trip?

1. JOY Macarons.

From raspberry to almond to lemon fleur de sel to butter pecan, there is a colorful flavor for everyone at this sweet macaron shop. Located on Davis Street, JOY is open seven days a week and is a must-visit during your trip to Dallas.

2. Dallas Grilled Cheese Co.

Right in the heart of the Bishop Arts District is this perfect spot for lunch. Whether you want a classic grilled cheese or one with barbecue and mac and cheese on it, this place is full of cheesy goodness. Don't miss out on the milkshakes and French fries either.

3. Houndstooth Coffee.

Located on Henderson Avenue, this little coffee shop started in Austin and thankfully brought itself a little north. Bring your laptop or a good book, grab an iced vanilla latte, and enjoy the ambiance and cute decor. Plus, there's a nice painted wall outside.

4. Velvet Taco.

Right down the street from Houndstooth, you can eat the best tacos you've ever had. Conveniently placed in these little taco holders you will find the greatest beef, chicken, pork, fish, or breakfast tacos you could ever want. Add a piece of the red velvet cake on the side, just for fun.

5. Chase Tower Sky Lobby.

Fifty-five stories high, you can catch a pretty great view of the Dallas area from this free sky lobby. Walk right into the South entrance of the Chase Tower in the middle of downtown, get in the elevator, and take a few seconds to admire the view.

6. Hopdoddy Burger Bar.

If you even remotely like hamburgers, you have to go here. Make your way to Uptown for the best burgers you've ever had, add a side of truffle fries, and choose your milkshake. You may have eaten more than your allotted calories for the day, but it'll definitely be worth it.

7. Ascension: craft coffee, wine, food.

Not only do they serve craft coffee, but they've also got wines, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Order whatever you want and delight in the fun atmosphere this little treasure has to offer.

8. CrushCraft Thai Street Eats.

Even if you have no idea what Thai food is, this place will be a party no matter what. Also located in Uptown, you can eat your Suar Rong Hai or Kra-Pao under an array of brightly colored ribbons and streamers.

9. Glazed Donut Works.

It does have some abnormal hours, but if you're in Deep Ellum any time on Thursday through Sunday, you have to grab some sweet treats from this donut shop. Their menu changes daily, so try something new every time you go!

10. Local Press + Brew.

Whether you're looking for coffee, juice, or art, this is the place to go. This coffee shop hosts art from local artists for you to admire while you sip on your latte or organic juice.

11. Good Records.

If you're a music person, you have to go here. Down in Lower Greenville, this store has everything from used and new CDs and types of vinyl, posters, and even turntables if you want to become a music person.

12. We Are 1976.

On North Bishop, you can come here to browse different letterpresses, or you can make some of your own! Register for a workshop to learn how to make letterpresses yourself, or you can just admire the huge array they have on the walls.

13. Sunshine Miniature Trees.

If you're looking for some hard-to-find plants, bonsai, or you just like the color green, come here. The friendly workers will help you find the perfect plants for you, equip you with the necessary equipment, or just let you walk around -- if you don't disturb the plants, obviously.

14. Nasher Sculpture Center.

Right in the center of the Dallas Arts District, you can find this sculpture center with some of the most modern and contemporary art. Visit one of their events or sign up for a class to engage in creating some art yourself.

15. Weekend Coffee.

Inside the Joule Hotel, you can find this precious coffee shop. Open seven days a week, you can sip on their special brews or just enjoy the art-filled atmosphere.

16. Thanksgiving Square.

Right in Downtown, this is a chapel, park, and museum all centered around giving thanks for everything we have. Whether you want to join them for their National Day of Prayer or experience their meditation events, they'll be super thankful to have you!

17. Trinity Overlook Park.

If you want to take a step back from the Downtown of Dallas and soak it all in, this park is perfect. Not only can you see the entire skyline, but you can also get a shot with the Margaret-Hunt Hill Bridge in front of it. Along this little stretch of park, you'll find people socializing, exercising, or just admiring the view.

All of these little treasures are waiting to be found by YOU! Now that the weather's getting warmer, check these places off your Dallas bucket list ASAP.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
