17 ‘One Tree Hill’ Quotes Every Graduating College Senior Needs to Hear

With graduation right around the corner, every senior who will be taking a stroll across the stage to receive their bachelor's degree is going through a lot of emotions. While many have plans for after graduation that they’re anxious to jump right into, others have absolutely no idea what they’ll be doing next.

Either way, the majority of students getting ready to leave the walls of their college that they’ve been so comfortable living in are freaking out about officially joining the real world for the first time. It’s a scary but inevitable event in a college student's life that you try your best to prepare for, but it doesn’t make it any less terrifying of a situation to be in.

There are just some things that every person who is about to make that huge transition and walk across that stage needs to hear, and I personally think that “One Tree Hill” says those things perfectly.

1. "At this moment, there are six billion, four hundred seventy million, eight hundred eighteen thousand, six hundred seventy one people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men, at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world, six billion souls. And sometimes all you need is one." -Peyton Sawyer

2. "It's the oldest story in the world. One day, you're seventeen and planning for someday. And then quietly, without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And that someday is yesterday. And this is your life." -Nathan Scott

3. "Life kicks you around sometimes, it scares you and it beats you up. There's a day when you realize you're not just a survivor, you're a warrior. You're tougher than anything it (life) throws your way." - Brooke Davis.

4. "The important thing is not to be bitter over life’s disappointments. Learn to let go of the past, and recognize that everyday won’t be sunny. And when you find yourself lost in the darkness and despair, remember it’s only in the black of night you can see the stars, and those stars will lead you back home. So don’t be afraid to make mistakes, to stumble, to fall, because most of the time the greatest rewards come from doing the things that scare you the most. Maybe you’ll get everything you wish for. Maybe you’ll get more than you ever could have imagined. Who knows where life will take you. The road is long and in the end, the journey is the destination." -Whitey Durham

5. "Sometimes I think we waste our words and waste our moments. And we don't take the time to say the things that are in our hearts when we have the chance." -Clay Evans

6. "That pain in your stomach, that pain in your heart, it goes away. That voice in your head thats saying there's no way out, it's wrong. Would you please, please just believe me? It gets better." -Keith Scott

7. "Because sometimes you have to step outside of the person you've been and remember the person you were meant to be. The person you wanted to be. The person you are." -Marvin 'Mouth' McFadden

8. "Happiness doesn't come cheap. Hell, if it did we'd all be smiling." -Dan Scott

9. "I feel like people get lost when they think of happiness as a destination. We're always thinking that someday we'll be happy, when we get that car, or that job, or that person in our lives that will fix everything. But happiness is a mood and it's a condition, not a destination. It's like being tired or hungry. It's not permanent. It comes and goes, and that's okay. And I feel like if people thought of it that way, they'd find happiness a lot more often." -Julian Baker

10. "Live for the moment because everything else is uncertain. Take advantage of what's right in front of you." -Rachel Gatina

11. "And if you're lucky, if you're the luckiest person on this entire planet, the person you love decides to love you back." -Nathan Scott

12. "Do you know what my mother said to me when I told her I wanted to start a company? She said your chances are one in a million. And I said maybe I'm that one, and she said you're not. And she was wrong. Because I am one in a million." - Brooke Davis.

13. "It doesn't matter how you plan it... Without even knowing it, sometimes life has a way of finding you with exactly what you need. Or exactly what you need." -Quinn James Evans

14. "You can choose to blame your circumstances on fate, or bad luck, or bad choices, or you can fight back. Things aren’t always gonna be fair in the real world, that’s just the way it is. But for the most part you get what you give. Let me ask you all a question; what’s worse, not getting everything you wished for or getting it all and finding out it’s not enough? The rest of your life is being shaped right now with the dreams you chase, the choices you make, and the person you decide to be. The rest of your life is a long time and the rest of your life starts right now." -Haley James Scott

15. “Sometimes, it’s easy to feel like you’re the only one in the world who’s struggling, who’s frustrated, or unsatisfied, or barely getting by. That feeling is a lie. And if you just hold on, just find the courage to face it all for another day, someone or something will find you and make it all okay, because we all need a little help sometimes, someone to help us hear the music in the world, to remind us that it won’t always be this way. That someone is out there, and that someone will find you.” -Lucas Scott

16. "If you had a friend that you knew you'd never see again, what would you say? If you could do one last thing for someone you love, what would it be? Say it. Do it. Don't wait. Nothing lasts forever." - Brooke Davis.

17. "Life is too short to play games. If you love somebody and you want to be with them, then, go get them." -Haley James Scott

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
