2016 is coming to an end and 2017 is about to begin. For many people a new year means a clean slate and a fresh start. It’s also a time for remembering all of the things that they said they would do in 2016 but ended up abandoning, but that doesn't have to be the case for 2017. New year, same you just better. Here are 17 New Year’s Resolutions for 2017.

1. Save money

This is one of the most common and most broken New Year's Resolutions. As tempting as sales at H&M are or how sick the new iPhone looks you have to have will power! Get a jar or a old shoebox and pick a small dollar amount. Once you pick that dollar amount pick how often you are going to put that amount away. For example, every week, bi-weekly, etc.

2. Lose weight

Another very popular, very broken resolution. First and foremost no matter how slow the process is don't give up! Join the nearest gym, substitute escalators and elevators for the stairs and pay attention to what and how much you are eating. As delicious as they are it might be time to cut back on the fries.

3. Do better in school

As a freshman in college I understand the struggle of balancing all of the classes and work. Write down all important due dates in a planner or plug them into an electronic calendar with reminders. Make sure you take advantage of your teacher's office hours if you need to ask them questions and go to tutoring if you need to. Study in increments and make sure to take breaks so that you don't get overwhelmed.

4. Stop procrastinating

Stop waiting until last minute to handle your responsibilities. Don't wait until the last minute to do assignments, save yourself the trouble of having to rush. Also make sure you don't wait until last minute to set up things like important meetings and appointments.

5. Get more organized

Better organization is bound to make your life easier in 2017. Learn how to manage your time better. Get rid of things you don't need and organize your other things.

6. Meet new people

New year, new friends! Don't be afraid to open up to new people. Find people who share the same interest and hobbies as you.

7. Have more self confidence

Confidence is key! Learn not to be so hard on yourself. Believe in your abilities and what you are capable of.

8. Manage stress better

Unfortunately stress is inevitable but there are ways healthy ways to deal with it. You can do things that you can enjoy to distract yourself. You can listen to music, hang out with friends, or write to get the feelings out.

9. Get rid of a bad habit

Try to get rid of any bad habits that you have. Whether it be smoking, drinking, biting your nails, etc. Kicking a bad habit will be hard and will take a lot of determination. Make a plan and stick with it.

10. Read more

Reading is a great hobby to pick up and is a good substitute for social media. Reading reduces stress, increases knowledge and is a awesome form of entertainment & escapism.

11. Let go of baggage

There is no sense in bringing old baggage into the new year. Let go of things like grudges and try to resolve problems you have with people before the new year.

12. Overcome a fear

Fear does nothing but hold people back. Try to overcome at least one fear in the new year. Not only will you feel very accomplished but it will be one less thing standing in your way.

13. Learn a new skill

Expand your skill set! You can take up music lessons, take classes, or even try to learn a new language.

14. Travel somewhere

Whether it be somewhere close or somewhere far, go somewhere you've never been before. Plan a full trip or hop in the car with your friends and go on an adventure. The world is a beautiful place worth exploring.

15. See your favorite artist in concert

If you are a music lover like me you are always dreaming of seeing your favorite artists in concert. See if any of your favorite artists are going on tour in 2017 and save up to get a ticket! Hearing your songs live is a great experience and will be a memory you'll cherish forever.

16. Do more things out of your comfort zone

Life begins outside of your comfort zone. You can miss out on a lot of fun things and experiences if you don't break out of your shell. In the new year start trying new things that you normally wouldn't try, like food, activities, and etc.

17. Have more positivity

Positivity is one of the best things you can have. Surround yourself with positive vibes, and don't tolerate people trying to bring any negativity into your life. Think positive. If you believe it you can achieve it. You need to start thinking "I can" instead of "I can't" and do more things that bring joy to your life. Leave whatever troubles you can in 2016 and focus on nothing but success and prosperity in the new year.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
