17 Most Basic Girl Halloween Costumes Imaginable

We try not to do the "basic" thing, but we're all guilty.

17 Most Basic Girl Halloween Costumes Imaginable

Every October, we are tasked, yet again, with the job of finding a Halloween costume. For some, that task starts Nov. 1, but those people are just overachievers. Each one of us wants our costume to be better than the person next to us, so we try to stay away from those costumes labeled "basic." However, we're all guilty of dressing in a "basic" costume at least once.

But for those of you who really just can't bare the thought of being one of those girls, I've compiled a list of a few of them.

1. Risky Business

I swear, every Halloween I see at least one photo of a group of college, or sometimes high school, girls pop up on my timeline wearing those knee high socks and a button down white shirt.

2. Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen

I’m guilty of this one myself.

But let’s be real -- every roommate and BFF pair has done this one, and every teenage girl has fantasied about being Blair or Serena.

3. Sexy Kitty

You know the one. With the black kitty ears and the black eyeliner nose and whiskers drawn on to her face? It’s the fallback when the group costume falls through or your go-to for the second night of Halloweekend.

4. Sexy Nurse

Every girl wants to be a sexy nurse at some point in her life. It’s basically a right of passage. Like a sweet 16 or a Bat Mitzvah.

Did I really just compare a sexy nurse to a Bat Mitzvah? Yeah, I did. And I meant it.

5. Cops and Robbers

Again. Guilty as charged.

See what I did there? Guilty? Cops and Robbers? I’m hilarious.

But anyway, it’s one of those go-to group costumes -- a great and easy costume to pull together with all your girlfriends two days before Halloween.

6. Mario and Luigi

Again, guilty.

I guess I haven’t done a very good job of mixing it up, but I’m really not too ashamed of it.

Admit it -- you and your BFF have done this one already.

7. Rosie the Riveter

This one is one everyone should do. It’s pretty basic, but it’s a great one. Grab a bandana, a blue shirt, some high waisted pants, and dress up as Rosie the Riveter.

8. Thing 1 and Thing 2

All these best friend costumes are pretty basic, but this one is cute and fun, plus a little throw back to our childhoods. But let’s be honest, Thing 1 and Thing 2 from "The Cat in the Hat" didn’t rock that costume like you will.

9. Minnie Mouse

Everyone’s done it, but it’s so cute. It’s the cutest one out there. Because Disney.

10. Pumpkin

Again, I’ve done this one -- it's just easy. Get an orange shirt, draw some eyes and mouth on that shirt with a black marker, and you’re good to go. If you want it to be easier, go out and purchase a pumpkin suit.

11. Where’s Waldo?

Oh wait, literally everywhere. Red and white stripes, on red and white stripes, on red and white stripes -- they’re everywhere.

12. Starbucks Frap

I came across this one online recently. It’s not one you see everywhere, but you know where I’m going with this one.

13. Basic B*tch

This one is probably the most basic of them all. It is, in itself, the most basic option.

Requirement #1: UGGs.

14. Mean Girls

"Mean Girls" is probably the most basic movie of all time. I guess that makes the costume pretty basic also. It definitely comes in at a close second to the basic b*tch though.

15. Any person, from any cast, of any Disney show.

Even London Tipton says no. I think she may have invented b*tch face.

16. Sexy School Girl

Again, Blair Waldorf. She is Queen. Literally "Queen B."

You know the one. The plaid skirt, the knee-high socks, and the partially unbuttoned dress shirt.

17. Nerd

Get some glasses and some suspenders. It's easy and basic. Perfect.

They’re all basic, but we love them. And we’ll continue to love them and probably reuse them too. Get used to seeing all of these because they are here to stay.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
