One of my favorite times of the Christmas season is when "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is aired. This special was first aired on December 9th, 1965. This was actually the very first Peanuts special ever aired on television. It was an immediate classic, and received outstanding reviews. It was also so widely received, that the special won an Emmy award, a Peabody award, and the soundtrack was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Ever since it first aired in 1965, it has been shown on TV every year. Last year, the special celebrated its 50th anniversary.
There are so many iconic moments in this special. The tree. Linus' speech on the meaning of Christmas. Charlie Brown's doubt of Christmas. The music. All of these aspects and many more helped make "A Charlie Brown Christmas" into a television classic. It is truly a piece of art in my eyes. This special also kicked off the many years of Peanuts' television specials, such as "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving." In the legacy of the Peanuts, "A Charlie Brown Christmas" truly stands out as a classic. These are 17 standout moments in the special.
