I was born and raised in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and I am so thankful for that. I might be a little biased, but I think that BA is one of the absolute best places in Oklahoma. There are many things that I love about Broken Arrow, but here are some of my top favorites:

1. The Rose District

The Rose District is the heart of Broken Arrow. It is located on Main Street, and it has come such a long way the past couple of years. It is home to many great restaurants, shops and more.

2. Broken Arrow High School

BA till I die! I am a proud Broken Arrow alumnae, and I love seeing my alma mater grow and prosper each year from show choir to academics. I will always be proud to BA Tiger!

3. Kristin Chenoweth

Kristin Chenoweth is Broken Arrow's sweetheart. Not only is she a talented performer, but she continually gives back to her alma mater, BAHS. We are so lucky to have her!

4. Warren Theatre

We sure are proud of our Warren Theatre, so I had to include it in this list.

5. Ray Harrell Nature Park

Ray Harrell Nature Park is the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of Broken Arrow with your family or friends.

6. Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center

The BAPAC, or Kristen Chenoweth Theatre, brings broadway stars and musical acts to Broken Arrow. I have had the honor of performing there during my days in show choir during high school, and I love that we have a place like this for Broken Arrow's talent.

7. Rooster Days

Rooster Days is a festival hosted in Broken Arrow every year. It features a parade, food, rides, performances, the Miss Rooster Days pageant and more. I might be a little biased, but Miss Rooster Days 2016, Ally Lane, is my favorite (shout out to my best friend).

8. Main Street Tavern

Main Street Tavern is a restaurant and bar that locals absolutely love. If you have not tried their pretzel yet, you are missing out.

9. Rose District Ice Rink

During the winter, the Rose District houses an ice rink that people can come and enjoy to get into the Christmas spirit.

10. BA Buzz

BA Buzz was created by Debra Wimpee to keep the residents of Broken Arrow informed about all of the great things that Broken Arrow has to offer. BA Buzz hosts a variety of events in the Rose District that brings the people of Broken Arrow together.

11. Taste Of Summer

Taste of Summer is an event held in the Rose District each summer that lets people have a taste of new and classic flavors from Blue Bell. Did I mention that is only $5 to eat as much ice cream as you want? Count me in.

12. Tuesdays In The Park

Tuesdays In The Park hosts live bands during the summer on Main Street. It brings in local bands and a lot of people.

13. Restore House

Restore House is a house on Main Street that hosts events like parties and weddings. It is beautiful and such a sweet treasure to Broken Arrow.

14. Glamour Gowns And More

Glamour Gowns is one of the best shops in Broken Arrow. It is the one place you have to go to in order to have the perfect dress for your prom, formal or whatever special occasion. Want to know the best part? It is owned by one of the sweetest ladies out there, and you will feel special and loved the moment you walk in the door.

15. Broken Arrow Neighbors

Broken Arrow Neighbors is a nonprofit that assists those in need in Broken Arrow. I love this nonprofit; Broken Arrow is lucky to have them.

16. Give Back Thursday

Every third Thursday of the month is Give Back Thursday in the Rose District. All participating merchants donate a percentage of their profits to the selected charity of the month. How awesome is it to be a part of a community that loves to give back?

17. Thursday Night Live

Thursday Night Live hosts local bands on Main Street and brings people together during the summer. You have to check it out

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
