A Girly Introvert's Catastroflood 2015 Experience (Complete With Hashtags)

The flooding in Charleston was exciting for everyone involved, whether he or she was really in trouble, or just along for the ride -- literally. People definitely made the best of the situation by wakeboarding, surfing and tubing through the flood water. I personally stayed inside for the five major flood days, living vicariously through those venturing through the storm.

1) I can see the ground, it's not too bad. Phew, that means I can go to CVS and get one of those battery-powered phone chargers in case the power goes out. #phoneaddict

2) I can't see the ground. Where's my falling star that I caught and put in my pocket? I could use you right now. #whentheprincessdiariesfailsyou

3) I better not trip and fall into a pool of water, gas residue, bacteria, dirt and sewage water. #charlestonshuffletimes5

4) I better not get splashed by people driving through the water, gas residue, bacteria, dirt and sewage water. #shower

5) If I get covered in water, gas residue, bacteria, dirt and sewage water, I will be rinsing off in a cold shower because our pipes are submerged in cold water. #noshowerfordays

6) I really want some Mellow Mushroom. I could probably walk there, no big deal. Never mind, I don't want to get swept into a storm drain like a fellow student of mine. #truestory

7) Well, I guess I should study. #productive

8) Ok, I've studied enough, time to check Facebook. #notproductive

9) Ugh, everyone looks like they're having so much fun out there in their pictures on Facebook! I have no desire to surf through the flood water... But a nice canoe ride would be so scenic. #rowrowrowyourboatgentlydownKingStreet

10) *scream* "There's a huge pool of water in my room!" -- my roommate. Okay, time to say goodbye to everything I own -- except my clothes. I will be taking those in evacuation. And my shoes. #priorities

11) Catastraflood is really a test of survival. I mean, I don't know how I would survive without my 20 days worth of food in the pantry... #college

12) I'm sick of the food in my pantry. Someone said they saw Jimmy John's guys biking around delivering. I feel bad making someone bike in this... #suckstosuck

13) I wish I drove a carboat. #carboat

14) Well, this is nice, my mom has called me more than she usually does. #whenyoureBFFswithyourmom

15) Seriously, red Solo cups in the lake outside my front door? #cofseapartyson

16) This is such a test of character! I love character-building activities! #sororitygirl

17) Yes, I've always wanted to have a view of the water from my porch. #lakeside

18) You feeling strong, my friend? Rain one more time. #imanangryrainvictim

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
