1.Create a healthier lifestyle
Society tells you that you’re supposed to venture on some crazy diet or exercise for an ungodly number of hours per day to become healthier. Save the craziness and just learn to live a healthier life. Start by exercising an hour each day, increasing the intensity with experience. Combine this with healthier eating habits, eliminating the bad, and you’re on your way to a healthier you.
2.Spend less on things, spend more on experiences
Instead of spending all your money on clothes or material things that can be replaced, decide to use your money for experiences. Try a new winery, visit a new city, or try out a yoga class. The more you choose to experience, the more enriched your life will get, and you won’t even notice the missing unnecessary materials.
3.Go green... or at least try
Not all of us can be die hard tree huggers or make everyday items out of recycled materials. However, do your best to use less water, recycle more and reuse a number of items. Find a new reusable water bottle and use that during the day instead of stocking up on plastic bottles. Make sure to turn off your TV and lights when you’re not using them and commit to taking shorter showers. Any little bit can help the Earth.
4. Focus on the good
Yeah they are a number of things that go wrong and sometimes life just seems to be against us. But with everything going on in the world, we need to focus on the good we have. Stop spending time thinking about the negative things and start looking at the positive things we have to be grateful for.
5. Learn To Set Goals
Goal setting is a very vital key to success, especially as an adult. It’s important to have your goals and dreams in mind in order to achieve something that matters. Although there are a number of things we wish we could accomplish, setting realistic goals for ourselves can help increase the chances of us reaching the things we want most.
6. Do More For Others
Volunteer with your free time or just do your best do something good for someone else. Spend some time at the local nursing home, help out with the pets in a nearby shelter, or just spend some time helping out around the house. It doesn’t cost anything and it will make feel good about yourself.
7. Spend Less On Food
Stop eating out so much and start learning how to cook. You know all those Pinterest recipes you’ve pinned over the years? Put them to use! Buy food from the grocery store and make some home cooked meals. Your health and your wallet will thank you.
8. Learn To Relieve Stress
Face it, we all have stress- something that is very inevitable. Whether it’s working out, listening to music, drawing, meditation or yoga, find a way to relieve that stress. It has been found that the more stressed you are, the more years taken off your life. So, find a way to relieve that stress, and fast!
9. Quit Those Nasty Habits
Let’s admit it, we all do something we absolutely hate. Whether it’s smoking, drinking too much, procrastinating, or something as little as biting your nails. Do your best to quit it. Make realistic goals and work toward them. You’ll find that you really can retrain the human brain and get rid of those habits that we are not proud of.
10. Pursue A Goal Or New Hobby
Most of us do the same things just because it’s comfortable. Decide to pursue something you’ve been thinking about, or find something new you want to try. There is no shame in being a newbie at something. Start small and be confident in what you do, but get out there and try something new!
11. Spend More Time With The People That Matter
Stop focusing your time and attention on people who won’t matter in a year. The sooner you stop trying to fit in and start spending time with those who really care about you and matter to you, the better off you’ll be. Toxic people can really create bad situations and unneeded stress, so ditch the negativity and become friends with people who matter!
12. Be Nicer
Being nice doesn’t take money or much effort. Try holding the door open for others, smile more than you would, or do a nice deed. We need more nice people in this world and you can be one of those. Instead of focusing more on what is going bad, try making the world a better place by being nice.
13.Get More Sleep
Like this is a realistic one. We all have school, work, activities and a desired social life. But when it comes down to it, sleep is vital. Commit to getting a certain number of hours of sleep each night and you’ll see a world of difference. You’ll perform better, feel better, and maybe even look better.
14. Start Saving Money
Really? Like we have time or the ability to do this. Although it seems unrealistic, try to start saving money. Pick an amount you’re going to save from each paycheck to stash away, or decide to miss out on a weekend of fun. Although it seems impossible right now, your future self with thank you.
15. Spend Less Time On Social Media
Social media is very detrimental to our mental health and communication skills. The more time we spend in front of a screen, the less time we spend interacting with others in a positive way. Stop comparing yourself to other people, stop setting unrealistic goals for yourself, and get out there.
16. Plan A Trip
Most of us are young and really do not have the funds to take a trip, especially with our student loans. Find a realistic place to go, save up, and take a trip! It doesn’t have to be a backpacking trip through Europe, it could just be a weekend at the beach. Whatever it is, plan a trip and enjoy new experiences.
17. Make 2017 Your Best Year Yet
Set your goals, strengthen your morals, and be the person you desire to be. A new year is a great opportunity to change the things we don’t like about ourselves and strive for the things we have been too afraid to try for. So, put 2016 and the negative things in the past and make this year the best it can be!
