The 17 Best Songs For Your Next Lip Sync Battle

Lip sync battles have taken the world by storm. It started with a segment on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," with two celebrities. Then Hayley Atwell and Clark Gregg did a Dubsmash, a lip-syncing app war, and they used this to raise money for their charities. However, this led to their final face-off in the television series "Lip Sync Battle."

"Lip Sync Battle" is a television series, hosted by LL Cool Jay and Chrissy Teigen, where two celebrities battle it out for the lip sync battle for the "Lip Sync Battle" belt. Recently many places are now doing these competitions for cash prizes. one of the hardest choices to make is determining what song to do. These are the best songs to do, in my opinion, for any lip sync battle. The songs range from one you can go all out in theatrics for or songs to capture soulful performances. Links are provided for the songs.

1. "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen

This is a musical masterpiece. The song has a great story, changes the style of music in each section, and being immortalized by "Wayne's World." I recommend getting a group of friends for this song especially when it gets to the Galio part.

2. "Call me Maybe" by Carley Ray Jepsen

An earworm that was all the rage in 2012. This song can be made into a theatrical performance or you can use an audience member for the person the performer is pining for.

3.. "Old Time Rock and Roll" by Bob Segar

A classic lip-sync song. This was made famous by Tom Cruise when he lip sang this song in "Risky Business." The question for this song is will you recreate the scene or make it your own. I came in second place with this song in a battle.

4. "Blank Space" by Taylor Swift

You can channel your inner scorned lover when lip-syncing to this song. The lyrics are perfect for when you want to get theatrical with your lip-syncing skills.

5. "Bye Bye Bye" by NSYNC

You know you want an excuse to break out those sweet NSYNC dance moves you practiced in front of the mirror ad nauseam in 2000. Also, you cannot spell lip sync battle without NSYNC. One example of this was when John Krasinski did the song on "Lip Sync Battle."

6. "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi

A great song and beat. It allows you to rock out and with some great choreography, it would make for a great performance.

7. "Take On Me" by a-HA

A great song from the '80s with a great beat and lyrics. Grab your leather jacket and your best '80s dance moves. You can even recreate the music video like Tyler Possey did on "Lip Sync Battle."

8. "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley

Channel you inner Elvis Presley with this classic rock song, Grab some blue suede shoes, dance moves, and the curve lip and you can become the King of Rock.

9. "Like A Prayer" by Madonna

This a great song for a soulful person and it has a story that can resonate with anyone. You can keep it simple or you can do what Jimmy Fallon did and get a church choir to join with you.

10. "Hallelujah" sung by Rufus Weinwright

An eloquent and simple song. With this song keep it simple and focus on the song. I recommend playing the piano when singing this song.

11. "Wrecking ball" by Miley Cyrus

Channel your inner Miley Cyrus with this song and go full throttle on this song. I recommend doing what Anne Hathaway did in her battle against Emily Blunt and try to ride on a wrecking ball.

12. Any Disney Song

Disney songs allow you to go full-blown theatrical and they have a great range of songs. You can do a lovely duet, a jazzy number, or even summon your inner villain. I performed "Circle of Life" and got 1st place in a lip sync battle competition. I wore face makeup, had a big stick like Rafiki, and even lofted a Simba plushie near the end. If you have the time, dedication, and money to do a Disney song make sure you blow the audience out of the water.

13. "Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars

This song is becoming a classic in the lip sync battle competition. I recommend getting a group of friends and show off your funky dance move to this funky beat. You can take some notes from Hoda Kotb on her performance of this song.

14. "Respect" by Aretha Franklin

You got to respect the potential with this song. It has so many possibilities for one to perform the song. You can have a group of people or go as a solo act.

15. "Rock and Roll All Night" by KISS

A great song by one of the most theatrical bands on earth. So stick your tongue out and wear black and white make to channel your inner Gene Simmons like Ceelo Green did in his battle.

16. Original Pokemon Theme Song

This will definitely get the nostalgia vote especially with hardcore Pokemon fans or '90s kids. You can either do just the anime theme song or you can do the entire song. Either way, you can become the very best.

17. "ABC" by Jackson 5

This is a classic song that many people know and love. Again this song has many possibilities on how to perform it and if you add some Micheal Jackson's dance you have the ABCs of winning the competition just like Brent Morrin.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
