17 Albums To Listen Through All The Way

In today's music world, there seems to be a lot of music going for either overrated or overplayed artists. It's always that one song that is stuck in your head, or you can't stop humming unless someone calls you out on it. Often it's that one hit that gets out, and it's onto the next person. However, once in a while, there is an artist who comes around and makes an enormous impact on the musical world, that their resonance is felt to the present day. Especially when it turns into an album that is stocked full of great music. Here are seventeen great albums that still sound as great since they were first produced.

1. "Rubber Soul" - The Beatles

At the time of its release, "Rubber Soul" was a very revolutionary album for the Fab Four. Shifting from their typical bright and jangly tones, they decided to move towards a more expansive sound, incorporating a folk tone and mellow vibe that allowed for a very full and tight album that was a huge hit. This album is worth a listening to since it was the fulcrum point for a larger shift in the Beatles overall style and allowed them and other artists (like the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds) to be inspired to write their masterpiece

2. "Discovery" - Daft Punk

Daft Punk have been eponymous with electronica music. "Discovery" is no exception. Describes as one of the biggest albums they have released in their particular career, this is something that will take you on a trip through some great interstellar travel. If you haven't had enough of this album after the first listen through, look up Interstellar 5555. It's an anime film that uses this album as a soundtrack. A classic in the electronica scene which is celebrating its 15 year anniversary

3. "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" - Miss Lauryn Hill

This album is so good that Lauryn Hill, after winning 5 Grammy's, and peaking at the top of charts and virtually bringing the hip hop we all know and love into the mainstream, she hasn't released anything from the studio since. A legendary album that will hit you in the feels and in feels that you didn't know you had feels.

4. "Brothers" - The Black Keys

Another Grammy-laden masterpiece, the gathering of blues, garage rock, and whatever else you can think of in this album makes it a huge hit. Many of the elements of the album are attributed to many things that are simple when stripped apart, but when pulled together, make a phenomenal sound that resonates with a multitude of fans around the world.

5. "Songs in the Key of Life" - Stevie Wonder

Written during a period of Stevie's life of great joy and happiness, "Songs In The Key of Life" is an excellent album that touches on many themes of life. The album is filled with unexpected sounds, and classic tunes alike. The mix of Stevie's vocals and his traditional style of music make this album worth listening to and living through.

6. "Glass Houses" - Billy Joel

One of Billy's lesser known, but still cherished albums, "Glass Houses" is an excellent piece of music for many occasions, whether it's kicking back and relaxing after a long day, or going from class to class across campus, Billy delivers an awesome performance that people still love today.

7. "18 Months" - Calvin Harris

Consisting of a compilation of singles and other new works, "18 Months" seems like a trip down memory lane for Calvin Harris. This album comprising of many great tracks like "Sweet Nothing," "Thinking About You" and others, sitting down and listening to this entire album is worth it because I guarantee after the first drop of the beat, these songs will have you dancing until the last track.

8. "Because the Internet" - Childish Gambino

Gambino, simply put, pushes a lot of boundaries when it comes to musical exploration. Because the Internet is no different. Regarded as the album that put him in the spotlight, this album takes you on a magical mystery tour-esque journey into the depths of Gambino's mind. This one isn't for the faint of heart, but, definitely a worthwhile album to listen.

9. "To Pimp a Butterfly" - Kendrick Lamar

Another abstract hip-hop album, Kendrick Lamar no doubt delivers many hidden and visible messages when it comes to this album. From the momentum of good kid, M.A.A.D. city, Kendrick expresses himself in the form of Jazz, spoken word, and solid beats. An emotional and political album, Kendrick shares a piece of himself with the world with this album.

10. "Appetite for Destruction" - Guns N' Roses

Guns N' Roses came in exploding into the 80's rock scene with their unapologetic, hard-hitting, and raw sound from "Appetite." Hard hitting rock music doesn't get any better than this. The album's significance can be marked by many artists who are still in the rock scene today that use that same album as an inspiration to continue to hit on and on.

11. "2014 Forest Hill Drive" - J.Cole

The lack of single releases and clean and sleek execution heightened the instant classic as an album that was here to stay. Another artist who pours his mind into his work, J. Cole delivers a pristine performance with good lyrics, suave beats, and interesting topics that plague even the best of us.

12. "Choose Your Weapon" - Hiatus Kaiyote

Hiatus has been rising in popularity due to their deep and powerful sound that is delivered in the Neo-soul genre; Choose your Weapon is filled with tons and tons of unexpected turns and chills that can turn even the most skeptical into a believer again. A mixture of slow and fast rhythms accompanied by a leading female vocalist that is singular from anyone else makes this album one of the best that have come out since the last five years.

13. "Ultraviolence" - Lana Del Rey

Lana takes a different, darker turn in her third album. Produced by Dan Auerbach (the same guy from Brothers) this album sets a nostalgic, slow, and black and white Hollywood-esque feeling, channeling one's inner counter-culture persona. Despite it not garnering a lot of attention, it is a significant change from her standard light and airy persona into a more dangerous and sharper person.

14. "Led Zeppelin IV" - Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin is one of the most influential bands from the 70's next to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. This untitled album, commonly referred to as Led Zeppelin IV, is shorter than most other albums in this list, has only epic tracks that make you feel like you came out of a "Game of Thrones" episode. Of course, this album also released the rock classic "Stairway to Heaven," which should give you some indication how epic this album is.

15. "Buena Vista Social Club" - Buena Vista Social Club

An international success, "Buena Vista Social Club" makes this album an essential for anyone remotely into Jazz, Latin, or whatever other genres of dance that makes you want to groove until the late AM. Listen to all of it, and tell me you don't want to go to see them live!

16. "Rebel Music" - Bob Marley & The Wailers

Chock-full of feel good rebel music, this album makes you want to do either one of two things: kick back with some friends and roam around, or get you to spark a revolution! Marley's powerful lyrics and a full band backing the driving beat, this is sure to please anyone who is a fan of Marley, or of rebellion.

17. Outlandos D'Amour - The Police

The Police's debut album has such a raw and elemental style, that it placed the Police exactly where they should be, as legends. A punk and short rock style, this album is certain to please anyone who finds classic or modern rock as awesome.

Of course, this isn't a comprehensive list of full albums to listen to, but here is a broad pallet to get you started on your musical journey of exploration and adventure.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
