If you're like me, you still have your best friend from the good ole grade school days. This special bond has survived over ten years of friendship and love. This friendship is unlike any other. Here are some ways you know you've been best friends for over ten years.

1. The majority of your conversations begin with "Remember when..."

You've had years and years of memories together, so why not remind yourselves of good, or bad, times?

2. You text them to like your tweet or picture.

"Like my tweet." "Just posted it. Like it."

3. Their parents are like your second parents.

And you love them just as much as your own.

4. You know their passwords and codes.

You never know when you may need access to their Webkinz account from grade school...

5. They're the first person you text whenever you get news.

Because you know they truly care.

6. You walk into their house without knocking.

Because you basically live there too.

7. You go on vacation together.

You feel like part of the family and have the best time!

8. You run errands together.

"We're going shoe shopping. Be there in 10."

9. You know all their deepest, darkest secrets.

Including everyone they used to have a crush on back in the good old days and never let them forget.

10. You're straight up honest to them.

Because you know what's best for them and they know what's best for you.

11. You send selfies to them and have them pick their favorite.

"Which one do you like?"

12. You tell each other EVERY SINGLE THING.

When I say, "I won't tell anybody" my best friend doesn't count.

13. You have the longest Snapchat streak out of everyone.

And they're your #1 snapchat friend.

14. They accompany you at appointments.

Because who wants to go to the doctor or dentist alone?!

15. You probably have more pictures with them than anyone else.

They also seem to appear the most on your Instagram.

16. People are always saying, "I'm so glad you guys have stayed friends."

Which I always reply with, "me too."

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

Students walking on a sunny college campus with trees and buildings.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
