Sure, "The Office" ended three years ago, but that doesn't stop you from binge-watching all nine seasons until you know how to "do the Scarn" or hate Toby with every fiber of your being. Mindy Kaling, who played the hilarious Kelly Kapoor, wrote a lot for "The Office," and her character was just as funny as the lines she wrote. Kelly never disappoints, whether she's dealing with her on-again-off-again relationship with Ryan or casually dancing whenever she hears music or singing. Kelly taught us valuable life lessons that you may not have picked up on, so here goes:
1. She taught us the only exception to a wedding's most classic rule.
I mean, she did look amazing.
2. Thanks to Kelly, we know the difference between smack talk and trash talk.
"Hey Pam, were Jim's parents cousins who also sucked at ping pong?"
3. And of course, the difference between like and need.
Amen.
4. Losing weight is hard.
From tapeworms to maple syrup/lemon juice/cayenne pepper cleanses, it's tough out there.
5. Sometimes things aren't always how they seem.
6. Kelly taught us to make achievable New Year's resolutions.
If you're gonna do it, do it right.
7. And to always follow through on them.
Not the most suggested strategy, though.
8. She reminded us to know our strengths.
9. And to turn around our weaknesses.
"What would you say your flaws are? I don't have any, asshole!"
10. Branding is important.
That wasn't the only brand Kelly has in the works.
11. As well as knowing when to stop.
As long as someone is listening right?
12. She gets real about serious things like race.
13. And death.
14. She gives the best advice about communication.
Are you kidding?
15. And broke down texting to a science.
.....
16. Finally, Kelly taught us to hold out for the one who'll do anything for you.
Ryan and Kelly forever.
Sure, Kelly didn't always make the right choices and wasn't always the nicest character, but when it came down to it, "The Office" wouldn't have been the same without her. She killed it in her job, except for screwing with Jim and Dwight that one time; was a great friend, except when she told Pam to keep on her glasses so she could be hottest in the office; and was a loyal girlfriend, except when she gave Daryl the ultimatum between her and his daughter, but hey, nobody's perfect.
