The other night I was on the couch with my aunt and uncle when they decided to watch a "Game of Thrones" episode. I had watched maybe three parts of episodes of "Game of Thrones" in my life, and therefore knew of basically two characters. It was the most confusing hour of my day, and I'm interning for a government agency this summer. Here are the thoughts I had during that hour.
"Everyone loves this show so this should be pretty good."
"That girl is such a badass, OMG."
"Wait, why is a 12-year-old the king?"
"Who is this crazy lady?"
"Aw, she's chasing the badass girl. That's not cool."
"Go, badass, girl -- go!"
"Don't. Trust. Anyone."
"Why are there so many people dying?"
"If so many people die, how do you keep track of everyone?"
"That's gross."
"They have some weird sexual tension and the fact that it's over a sword isn't helping."
"That's especially weird since I thought she was a dude, at first"
"Wow, I'd hate to be trying to sell fruit and have some crazy people ruin that because they feel the need to kill each other."
"Ooh, you tell him, badass girl!"
"That's barely half of the characters?"
"Wow, that was confusing."
My advice after this experience: don't watch "Game of Thrones" unless you want to commit, and even then good luck keeping track of who everyone is. Oh, and start at the beginning.
