Mental resilience can be extremely hard to achieve if you constantly face new paths and challenges, but it can be done if you have healthy habits. When you are finally able to manage your emotions, thoughts, and actions, you will be set up for success in both your life and in your mind.

The first step to becoming mentally strong is letting go of the thoughts that negatively infiltrate your life. It will be hard, so that's why it is important to remind yourself of these 15 thoughts that mentally strong people have:

1. "I can move on."

They don't waste time feeling sorry for themselves. They are able to forgive and forget, regardless of the circumstances.

2. "I will stay in control."

They don't give away their power to other people or to their negative thoughts. They don't let bad situations get the best of them.

3. "I embrace change."

Not only do they tackle challenges head on but they wholeheartedly welcome them. They know that life's obstacles will ultimately make them wiser and stronger.

4. "I am happy."

They don't complain because they know hard times don't last forever. They know better than to waste their energy on things out of their control.

5. "I am not afraid to speak up."

They know that it's impossible to make everyone happy. They don't worry about pleasing others, so they speak their minds and aren't afraid to be themselves.

6. "I am willing to take risks."

Before taking action, they calculate the risks and weigh the benefits. They think things through, and they make decisions based on what the outcomes and consequences will be.

7. "I stay focused in the present."

They don't dwell on the past, and they keep their minds in the present. They practice mindfulness on a daily basis.

8. "I accept responsibility for my past."

They don't make the same mistake over and over. They don't undermine the opinions of others, and they don't question why someone believes they are at fault.

9. "I celebrate other people's success."

They believe life shouldn't be a competition. They are genuinely happy for someone when they reach their goals and accomplish their lifelong dreams.

10. "I am willing to fail."

They understand that practice makes perfect, so they don't give up after failing once, twice, or even three times. They see every failure as a chance to improve.

11. "I enjoy my alone time."

They don't fear being alone. They recognize the importance of having downtime to better themselves mentally and emotionally.

12. "I work and succeed on my own merits."

They don't think the world owes them anything. They believe that you shouldn't heavily rely on someone else in order to succeed in life.

13. "I think productively."

They wisely expend their mental energy. They replace negative thoughts with productive ones, and they don't let their fears mix with their anxieties.

14. "I tolerate discomfort."

They accept their feelings without being controlled by them. They know how to internalize their negative thoughts.

15. "I reflect on my progress every day."

At the end of the day, they take the time to consider what they've accomplished and where they hope to go. They know that everything happens for a reason, and they have faith in what the future will bring.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
